so i noticed my pool was looking murky and had leaves at the bottom. I went to do a backwash and the motor isn't working :( is there any quick simple thing i can check that might be causing this, or does motor need replacing ?

if the latter, where should i go for fair price (in JHB Northern Suburbs)

Test the power with a multimeter or with another appliance if you can. If there's power and the pump still isn't coming on it's probably the plug. Try to see if you can see any burnt wiring or malformed plastic, you might also be able to smell the burnt wiring. Determine the wattage of your current pump as the wattage of the pump needs to match with the filter.

Same thing happened to me last year, I found that the best place to buy a replacement was SA plastikor.

My dad had an issue with his pool pump. Motor was still good but the starter capacitor was kaput. Check that as well because it's cheaper to replace than a motor.

Take a multimeter and see if there is any power[plug/breaker/inside housing of the pump). Go from there.
