Port forwarding

So I have recently made a minecraft server and need help.I want to give the ip to friends, but it always says "Cannot connect:Bad connection".I hoped it was a small problem, but matters proved otherwise.I used this site called "no ip", and one of the steps is port forwarding,which I don't know how to do.I searched all over google, asked friends and family, but no answers came up.Please, if you know what to do, tell me.

Port forwarding gets done on your router, what port number must be forwarded?

Pick your router, find MineCraft and follow the instructions.

Otherwise just find some generic instructions there somewhere and you should be able to figure out what's necessary and how portforwarding works.
