Portal tshirt...ideas?

Inevitability

New member
I'm thinking of making a Portal tshirt (...yes, I know it's 6 years late, but I only started playing the game yesterday for the 1st time!!)
Here's my first attempt at a design below.
What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
And what colour should it be... I only used black to make the blue/orange stand out so you can see it properly... is black the way to go?
I guess the real test is to consider: If I were to sell this at R200, would you buy one? (If yes, then it's good. If no, then it requires some more work!)

Looks good. What above copyright issues though?

For R200 I'd expect it to be quality stuff, not curtain material or anything.

I would suggest putting just the portals on the front and back, and perhaps the Aperture logo on a sleeve. just my 2c :D

I've done some basic copyright searches and nothing in the above design violates copyright.
Regarding price : definitely... you should only expect premium quality for a premium price. That and the fact that it's a custom item would be the justification for the cost... Not that this will be the final retail price... I could well sell it for less depending on the production cost. Still early for that, though: First I need to have a design that's worth paying for.

Throw in some companion cube's or GLaDOS and I'm sold :D
I appreciate the feedback. Lemme go back to the drawing board (or GIMP, in this case) and see what I can come up with.

The problem with the current design you wont be able to read Aperture unless see both the front and back so the sleeve suggestion is best same with the word laboratories unless you make both words smaller and put it where you pocket normally would be.

But that's the whole point.
I mean... it's Portal.

I might be interested in a few, however I would resell them at work so they would need to be at a decent price of course :)

People might think it's a T-shirt inspired by Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, and not Portal.

Who cares what people think? If you really cared what people thought you probably wouldn't be wearing a Portal t-shirt :) Besides it's a great conversation starter.

Rather combine the two images on the front, since one is yellow and the other blue. It'll look cooler and I agree with adding something on the sleeve or the back of the t-shirt and the top, like a small logo of the game or the creators of the game.

I like the design, even if it does say APE. That's aptly appropriate for a Portal sheet.

So my 2c: What about adding the phrases "You Monster" or "For Science" somewhere as well?

I appreciate the feedback, but the point of this design is the showcasing of teleportation... that won't be achieved by having the full design in one continuous space... the only way to achieve this is by having a partial design spanning the front and back of the tshirt.

On the 2nd point : Any display of the game itself or the developer will infringe on copyrights/trademarks.
My designs have always been about the "insider value" rather than letting the whole world know that I play Portal.
The typical example being my Mass Effect tshirt, which just had the N7 logo... it only holds "insider value"... nobody knows what N7 is except people who are intimate with the Mass Effect series.

I'm not saying that you're wrong... a tshirt with both pieces in one continuous space and the word Portal/Valve included would look awesome... And Valve might make good money from it on their merchandise store but that's just not what I'm going for with my design.
