Positive or negative pressure case airflow?

Like the title says

Is it better to have a higher ratio of fans pulling air out of the case or a higher ratio of fans pushing air into the case?
 
This is actually interesting. I;d also like to know. Right now I only have 1 pulling air in and I have a decent-ish rig. No problems so far and I have 2 boxes right next to each other that both create quite a bit of heat
 
I have 4 pulling in air and 3 to dump it out the top so mine is positive. Keeps the dust off my stuff and I believe the issue is to get air in and also a positive pressure lessons the work off my exhausts.
 
This has been a debate that has raged on forever.
I tend to go with negative pressure as it removes the hot air pockets in the case.

It really depends what case it is, the fans your using, the amount of fans, where it will be standing ect.

As for the dust thing, positive and negative airflow allows dust to settle in the case or around the fans.
There is really no way of keep dust out, Running filters helps a little bit.
 
Every rig will be different. One thing I have found is that exhaust fans at the top work well. As for the rest, it is impossible for me to figure out. I just blow the dust out with a vacuum cleaner and a paint brush every week just to give it a fighting chance.
 
Neutral, leaning more towards positive.

I run a Gigabyte Aurora 3D that works wonderfully with the right application of fans. Building an OC rig out of it now ;).

Front fan(in) is high volume fan with filter
2 below the psu (out) med volume (the psu also sucks and exhausts through it)

I took the side cover and modded it a bit for another fan(in, low volume) over cpu and another (in, low volume) over the gpu area.
The side panel is also meshed ao air can come in and out naturally.

Iow, I dont have a heat build up anywhere in the casse exept for the dvd and hdd bays, wich doesn't matter anyway.
 
Prefer positive air pressure, with filters over the intake fans. Seems to work reasonably well at keeping my PC dust-free.
