Pretoria or Joburg?

This is obviously a question for those who have some knowledge of both Pretoria and Johannesburg, or at least a bit about Gauteng.

My question is, if you had to choose, where would you stay and why?

I went to Pretoria for the first time in years yesterday and seriously liked it. It's so vast and so big but so chilled at the same time. Did not expect that. I also liked the alternative feel of the place.

So yes! Random, but opinions?
 
I live in Jhb, the north to be exact and I will never move to PTA. I love it this side too much to wanna move out so far...
 
i live in the north of Jhb too and i dont think i will ever want to live in Pta... its too afrikaans and i am afrikaans... i like the mix of Jhb
 
I grew up in Centurion, very relaxed feel about. Sure there is a strong Afrikaans influence - not convinced that's a big issue.

In Pretoria, lovely old established areas such as Lynwood, Brooklyn, Menlo Park.

It doesn't have the buzz of Joburg, so if that is not an issue then have a look.

I, in fact, do stay in Strubens Valley, other side of the road from Clearwater though, behind Makro. I quite like the area.

It's also not quite so far west-rand style (4x4's and khaki) as further out to Roodepoort, Krugersdorp and Florida, except when someone like Theuns Jordaan is playing at Hillfox.

Where's Keywest? Krugersdorp?

I stayed in 382 Sixpence road just before the bend when I was about 7 or 8 :)

Keywest is as you're going up to Krugersdorp on the N14, going past Silversands Casino
 
HAving friends taht stay all over Gauteng and ive bene here my whole life ( now 25 ) I have to say that the answer is NEITHER

If you have to come here your answer would be Centurion. about 10km from PTA. Also certain areas.

The place i moved to a month ago is Pierre Van Rynveld. MY neighbour has been living there for 17 years and has not had a case of theft that he knows about. yes it is not a completely crime free area but lower than other parts .

New exchange so good internet. Nice and quiet and friendly people.

IF you go to PTA the far south east is the best . Elardus park Garsfontein those areas but quite some Crime in those areas.

Eldoraigne and Wierdapark would be the better options for Centurion followed by PVR>

PTA is better than JHB. I have a friend living in BRyamston and his couple mill house still does not feel as good as my tiny little place in centurion :D
