Pro gaming career in SA isn't sustainable, says PandaTank

If you're a fan of the game or local competitor at least, you'll love watching the pro's have it out. It teaches you a lot.

Yeah I remember one time I watched some Finals of SC2:HotS and ZOMG minds were blown...
That was amazing, killed an entire night watching those.

The whole thing about watching games is not to watching it alone but with friends. Thats what makes it fun and its hard for people to host a barcraft when there is no place for people to go. Plus people going to a bar to watch esports people look at you like "omg nerd lol" but then when you talk to them ask them why they being fail then find out they also play games >< like wtf.

The mentality of spectator sport in SA is bad and needs to change if in we want to have events like IEM,MLG.
But its growing slowly DOTA TV is there and Twitch is there but the option of spectator sport is not there yet. Maybe one day

Maybe mygaming can organise a event. That would be cool. can be like once a month

While I agree that more "televised" promotion of eSports would help to grow the culture, In a country where a small minority actually know how to work a computer, let alone own one, we have a long way to go... I think the spectator value only really appeals to the players themselves, and there simply arnt enough at the moment...

That would be a awesome idea... a bunch of MyGaming members get together somewhere and watch a livestream of some major comp(Dreamhack/MLG) like SC2 or BF4 finals

With our (slowly) improving net speeds, we're starting to warm up this locally. See how many people watch the E3 streams in comparison to 2 years ago.

I watched the COD championships live, and damn it was awesome! I'll definitely watch this years too. If they do anything like it for bf4 then I'll be even more keen, although I did watch the US vs EU games live and it was just too much, 64man is too much. I wouldn't mind watching 5v5 defuse or something, or 8v8 conquest. I still wish they had left in squad rush, that was great for comp play.

That said, there are plenty of technical issues bf4 needs to address before it can get competitive.

I have watch a few SC2 tournaments when they announced them in game. But would be nice to watch some local content on gaming. even if it made up once a month or something like that.

one can then download it. invite some friends over and enjoy. i know it will not be live but it would be start and maybe can help us grow the market. maybe someone can make show on some DGL games and then post it online.

I'd be up for that as well, it will grow communities so fast. Many would also realise how easy it is to get involved.

Yeah great idea... and at the same time it's exposure for our local guys

You hit the nail on the head we have a very long way to go just to have the Internet is far to expensive to appeal to the masses.
