Problems and complaints about rAge 2009

I've been asked to compile a list of complaints about the expo, so the organisers can address them next time around. Lay it on.

My first complain is that it doesn't come to Cape Town
Second I wasn't there but thats my fault not the Expo's

Uhm i have one.... Where was Sony, Dell, Toshiba, HP etc? i was looking forward to all the new laptops etc that they would have on display..... Also it felt very small this time round, last years event felt bigger

People have had a lot to say about the toilets http://www.mygaming.co.za/news/News/4564-The-rAge-LAN-report.html

Also, it was lame that there were HD console displaying games at sub-HD resolutions, I think it was at the NAG stand. Operation Flashpoint 2 springs to mind.

Otherwise, I have no complaints. Was great having the international guys demonstrating games like Borderlands and Avatar.

Any public place where large groups of people use the bathrooms there is bound to be a mess. Human nature and all that.

My main complaint about Rage is that the Expo side of it is not very good. It feels more like a trade show than a Gaming show. To much telkom and MTN and those crap. CNA and those. We need more game stands like dedicated EA stands and Sony stands and so on. Not last year, the year before that there was this AWESOME EA stand. That was the type of stands we want. Keep the comic book people and anime people interested as well! No anime stuff last year was the main reason I did not go this year (as well as the fact that there was no real "game" booths)

I felt the show hours were a bit short. Closed to early

Would be great if they would stay open to like 8pm or 9m

I dont have any complaints except for Activision pulling out at the last minute and the booth where you had Avatar, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and GH that section it was small and got clustered very quickly if you could do that again next year but just maybe expand it a bit more... however I felt the show was fantastic and had no regrets as usual for going. Kudos to the NAG team for the expo

I thought the expo was quite awesome, although lacking MW 2 was a huge disappointment :/

As for the Lan, I do have a few complaints.
I feel like the network this year was horrible, obviously at a huge lan there is gonna be allot of traffic, and at the vip lan we couldn't do anything. The lag was so bad if I hosted a dedicated server and joined it on the same pc it was unplayable - why would I lag on my own server? wtf.

The vip lan was repeatedly disconnected from the main lan because from what I gather the network couldn't handle it - It would've been awesome to jam some fear or something, but we couldn't because vip lan people always playing a comp game.

I read a complaint from someone in the ioen lan who came just to play bf2, and he couldn't because our servers were disconnected from the main lan.

Another pretty irritating factor was the lack of directions, there were like 2 signs for the vip section, the security guards didn't know where it was and the entrance was hidden from view.

I think the lan portion was prob the best part for those who were there. For me personally I feel that the whole expo was rather dull. It feels like the some old rehashed sh!te was shown as last year. There were fewer stands and it honestly only took us 2 hours to go through the entire expo while trying to drag it out as long as possible. It felt more like a glorified fleamarket than anything else. Frontosa's stand was pretty much the "highlight" for me. The stands on display were also quite small and very unimpressive and just plain boring. I will give Rage a miss next year as it honestly felt like a total waste this time around.
Just Not worth it :/

I got the opportunity to chat to Tinman at rAge about what was supposed to be the coming out in SA for MW2 and as he said unfortunately Infinity Ward and Activision pulled out at the last minute as they were not ready for a public announcement. In my opinion I reckon it's because if they were to mention that whole saga about no dedicated servers etc... it would have been a case of STFU and Get off stage you are not welcome sort of scenario. You would have seen people "boo-ing" those guys off stage like you have never seen a massive boo before :p

Yeah, the network issues are probably the biggest complaint we've had. Rest assured that there's a lot of concern about this from the organisers' side, and hopefully this won't happen again.

Sure, but a valid complaint nonetheless. They can hire 1 person for each toilet to keep it a little cleaner and neater.

I don't really have any complaints thought, I didn't use the toilets and haven't been to any previous rAge. Seeing some more laptops and things at discounted expo rates could have been nice.

Glad to hear it's been noted, really look forward to next years :)
