Thats strange. My first interaction with drivers was immensely positive. I didn't know there was such a thing as driver updates (no internet, so very difficult to get anyway). So when my gfx card was severely hampered by the "car building" scene in Enter the Matrix (I still remember it so vividly) the game would go down to like 3-4 fps. Driver updates and entire game played super smooth. It was like a free gfx card upgrade!
EDIT: FOUND IT! Holy crap this game brings back memories
It doesnt seem to auto start at the right time, which is 3:03...weird....
Sigh I could never play this game... It would be in perma slow mo and not the good kind because it's The Matrix, coz my GPU was that bad.
Also, Disk 4.... The 1 reason I never finished Final Fantasy 8.
One more thing, regarding the Saves/Memory Cards/Codes, there we games like Super Mario, Sonic, etc(on the TV Game) that didn't have codes or saves. So you would simply replay those games every day.
I remember playing Sonic everyday and just get to a nice far spot and then I got told to stop because it's time for the TV Shows, or the plug is getting too hot.
