Problems with internet disconnecting

I have a fairly old landline phone in my room however whenever I am on the internet playing Tiberium Alliances and the phone rings and I answer it (only game it has happened in) the internet disconnects meaning I have to turn off the modem, turn it back on 30 seconds or so later or restart my pc to get the internet back on.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

sometimes its a voltage problem on the line which you can check with a voltmeter or get a techy to check it

Do you mean the voltage on the adapter becomes too high to handle the phone and modem being on at the same time?
It only disconnects when the browser is actively open

No the voltage where the RJ45 cable plugs into from the router and it can also be caused by the pots filter on the phone.

Is the phone plugged in on the same line from the modem or does it have its own socket in the wall where you plug in the POTS filter into?

Try unplugging the phone. No one uses those things anyway. :D

Did that yesterday out of pure frustration. Problem is that I live in quite a large house in an rectangle shape and the other phone is in my parents room which if somebody is in the lounge they will not be able to hear the phone ring.

Yep, same one indeed.
