prophecy.co.za, a no-no to local only now

Like always, I'm browsing the interwebs, on my local only, and this week I'm looking to buy a graphics card, so I go to my favorite sites: nivo.co.za, sybaritic.co.za and prophecy.co.za

You see, I noticed that prophecy site had an overhaul, and looks better, but it will be really shit of them to change providers/domains and have all the local only internet junkies(like myself) have no access, as Ive spend huge sums of money from each site mentioned before. Also the reason they were on my list is because of my access to them on local. I hope they realize they've lost customers(customer if its only me with this problem)

With uncapped is soo cheap these days I guess they kinda moved along with the majority of Internet users

+1

Have to say, I'd much rather they keep prices reasonable than up them to pay for exorbitant bandwidth costs. So... international hosting FTW.

There cannot be too many people left using local only... surely? Talking about prophecy.co.za, their site looks a lot nicer since its overall. Seems easier to search and find things.

With the way the internet is moving I don't think anybody should still be on local only. And who besides Telkom is still flogging it to most of it's users?

This imho is something that should never have been supported. Obviously more local sites have been moving internationally but with more reasonable local pricing they should return in the future. For anybody that needs local access I think cheap uncapped is now the way to go.

As for Prophecy I honestly never found their prices so great.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought so.

Rebeltech FTW :p

Hi Ap0calyps3

I'm sorry we are no longer hosting the site locally :( A whole bunch of factors came into play, including cost, server performance, support from the hosting company, etc etc. Overall we felt that hosting overseas was the best compromise - unfortunately there was no perfect option!

As for Prophecy I honestly never found their prices so great.

We've made the decision a few years ago not to aim to provide the cheapest price on every product, but to provide good overall value. We feel (and we are told often by customers) that our combination of decent pricing, affordable and quick (and insured!) shipping and pre and after sales service and support is a compelling offering. What we definitely need to do is a better job of marketing this and informing people of the extra service we do - I think right now we don't do a good enough job! (For example, do you know that if a supplier can't swap you out after 2 weeks, we step into the breach and do either a swap out or a credit?)

Another decision we have taken is to list a more expensive price for a product when that is the only supplier who has stock - rather than always listing the cheapest supplier, even when they are out of stock.

Thanks for the feedback guys, let me know if you have any other questions!
