PS3 price cut R2500 - Worth it now?

i recently found out that the PS3 160Gig price will be reduced to R2500 locally, whether thats a rumor or not. Do you guys think its worth buying now?
 
I bought my 120Gb at Game for R2150 during a price-beat and even though I hardly ever played it, I'm now enjoying it immensely.

There are some awesome titles coming out on PS3 so if you think about it, it's the same price as upgrading your GPU for new PC titles coming out (Which I still need to do. :o)
 
I use mine as a media/blu-ray player, and for the exclusives. Other than that, I tend to stick with the xbox. I still dig it though

Great price but waiting for it to go under R2000 to be worth it for me, same with the Xbox360.
 
R2500 for a decent console that's also a competent Blu-ray player is nothing.

Buy one.

Even if you're just after a good blu-ray player and you're not worried about the games, it's worth it really. Plus it's good for all types of media, and you can stream from your PC or media server as well. If you don't already have an xbox, and you want to play console games, then it's extra awesome.

Though I would say that if you're not interested in the blu-ray, but more in the console gaming, I would still prefer the xbox. It's much the same with games (aside from exclusives) and media (and streaming etc), but I much prefer XBL over PSN, and the xbox controller over the ps controller. Just my opinion though (before people start getting upset)
 
I also think the PS3 is worth it at the old price. If mine broke or disappeared, I would replace it immediatly. That and my HD 32" Plasma to go with it of course.

On a side note (and only my opinion)....although people seem to prefer the XBox controller, I still think the PS3 on is better. It feels more sturdy and solid, and looks sleaker. The XBox controller looks and feels plastic/gimmicky in my opinion.
 
Is the pricing not getting cheaper to sell old stock with the release of the new PS? age old sales trick...
 
So i guess its official. Most people i know wanted a ps3 for the blu-ray but could never afford. Now seems with the price drop, Sales will sky rocket. Wonder if the Xbox 360 will follow suite?

This is what I'm gonna do when I buy one soon. The exclusives are good, but I reckon I'll stick mainly on my xbox and XBL.
 
Anyone know if the price drop has taken affect yet? I was planning on grabbing that ps3 from btgames mentioned above, but don't fancy missing out on the price drop..
