hey guys

if i get a PS3 from London will i be able to play games from here...? is London's region code the same as ours..? PAL..?

Yes, you will be able to play games. As far as I know the UK's region code is the same as ours, but that doesn't matter anyway since PS3 games are not region locked, only blurays are.

oh okay.. so either way it's fine because, like u said, our region codes are the same so even the Blurays from here should work... :) thanx.. :)

Perhaps. But i guess that depends on where you buy DVDs from, right? Personally i've had several (original) DVDs that turned out to be region locked to other countries.

Ripping them to avi did the trick, though.

I'm not sure if the warranty is covered here though. Worth phoning Part Serve and asking them. They oversee Sony's warranty in the country.

Buying a PS3 from the Uk would mean it playing Region 2 Dvds and Region B blu-rays. However, some are region free.

Inside Info: You wont get support from Partserve or Ster Kinekor, they will both charge you for a repair or replacement...
I recommend buying a PS3 locally... Also Price drops on thursday to R2499.95 :)

Exactly the reason why it's best to check that out before buying any electronic product outside your own country.:)

Amazon.co.uk sells the 160Gb for 175 pounds. Works out to be just over R2000. So you're saving about R500.

When I was there recently I saw much better deals in retail shops. But yes, you have to factor in the lack of a warranty.
