I will surely only be able to buy in a year or 3 after release.

They said that the PS3 also has a 10 year cycle. So more than likely it'll be 10 years of support.

good news for me since I only get the consoles after 2 years of being launched when the prices drop significantly.

the xbox 360 has been out since 2005 MS has just released a revised 360 slim, in two years time the 360 will be 10 years old, the ps2 was discontinued last year after 12 years. so saying the life cycle is 10 years should not be a surprise, just dont expect first party support for the full ten years as they will most likely replace the new current gen in 5 or 6 years time again.

thats 3rd party not first party, 3rd party devs usually support consoles longer than 1st party devs

I may just pick up a PS4, the games looks good enough plus I don't have to worry about spending 3k+ every year on my PC to keep it gaming. Then again how much are the games going to cost? :/

Probably will be R500-R700 per game always more than pc games.
