PS4 price to increase in SA due to weak rand

I've seen the new R6799 price on Takealot already. All these price hikes are seriously depressing. I was hoping for a cheaper generation than the PS3's was, but I guess it's only the US that is getting that :cry:
 
surprised it took so long. the Rand has been doing badly for a while now. also, do not expect the prices to come down one the Rand improves... this damage could be very long term :(
 
Such wonderful news for a friday (coupled with everything else like the tax that we'll have to pay for digital purchases too).
I guess our biggest fear should be with the rand weakening even further instead of getting stronger again - kinda hard to be an optimist right now though. :mad:

Unlikely imo. I doubt its going to weak further...pretty sure its going to stay at the current k@k rate for a while though. Prepare to pay a fortune for your rigs going forward...

Also...the above assumes no politicians open their mouth and say something ridiculously stupid. Not the safest of assumptions tbh

You more than likely right, and if it does get worse the repo rate will be increased and that will lower the rand/dollar exchange...
 
This article should be entitled "Every product in South Africa to increase due to the weak rand"

Repo rate has been increased, petrol going up, food stuffs going up, utilities going up, yada yada yada. Never ending spiral.
 
Inn3r your 100% correct.... and lets not forget the wonderful Sanral which will make everything more expensive, as the consumers bear the brunt of it...

But when I saw that the PS4 price was increasing you gotta know its not the only thing. Absolutely everything imported will go up by the same amount, 10% or so in line with the exchange rate. Sad really.

I have been looking at getting a Bible from the states, thing has increased R350 in the last 3 weeks. :/ 10% increase over 3 weeks is insane.
