PS4 will "out-power most PCs for years to come"

Im still glad about the new ps4 even though i will never get one.

It will still bring better graphics to pc gaming

I'll probably get one.

At the moment, my biggest gripe with Sony is that they don't allow you to change your regions. Primarily, I think, because each region is a little island disconnected from the others and they have absolutely no system implemented with which to pull it off. It just seems kind of primitive. And the official support response is, "Make a new account." Screw your digital game purchases and your achievements and your username.

To me, that just makes Sony look bad.

So my "probably" is a tentative "possibly."

I like the hardware, I like the potential. I don't have a lot of faith in the company's support. This is where Microsoft and the Xbox kind of excel (granted it took them five or six years).

IMO I would go with consoles if the games weren't so freakin expensive. It's good to have both a mid - high end pc and a console for those shiny exclusives, but sadly a huge majority of people can't afford to buy such a pc and keep it upgraded.

@Joker
You are right, consoles are holding the gaming industry back but remember that the gaming scene would be a lot smaller without consoles, hence the huge price tag that comes with a mid - high end pc.

I honestly get why someone would buy a console over a pc, financially it makes more sense, You don't have to upgrade to play the latest titles ect. But I don't get why they let this fool (whoever he is) run his mouth when has no idea what he is talking about.

Console games are also a heck of a lot more pricey than pc games and rumors are doing rounds that PS4 and X720 titles will cost $70+. If that is indeed the case then console gaming is dead...To me an anyway.

Paying R700 - R1000 for a game is lunacy. Buy 10 titles and you can build yourself a decent pc.

lol, Joker, seems you are always trolling the console guys :P
We get that you like PC's, really we do :)

To be serious though , this is just what the industry needs, absolute and unfounded fanboy'ism from an official source.
This statement is like saying that my new Vespa with 3 Cylinders will outpower every single motorcycle on the road.
Read it for what it is, empty sensationalism for the sake of saying something over the preferred option of saying something with meaning.

Yes, the PS4 is probably the most powerful console ever built (We still need to have the final FINAL specs of the new X box to compare it to though) but it is still a gaming centric system.
All the power in the world will not help you open and run Calculator or Notepad on it, no matter what you do or upgrade.

People buy consoles, people buy pc's, some guys, like me buy both and while I can safely say that consoles are my preferred platform for gaming, I can also say that PC's are my preferred platform for just about everything else.

To each his own I suppose, but don't get all riled up about something that someone obviously said to either try to sound smart or to blatantly troll a worldwide sector of PC users.

Well said igame.admin :)

I will always prefer pc for all aspects of tech but will not judge if someone thinks ps4 etc is better..

It is a matter of preference whether something is good to them.

:p

Honestly I am not trolling.

I really do see why people buy consoles, I for one prefer racing games on consoles.
I just didn't like what the clown shoe said, I can tell just from that statement he fails at anything hardware related lol

He is most likely just stirring to get some more coverage ect.

We were having a discussion about this just yesterday, about how so many people in the industry seem to say things JUST to get a reaction instead of being the consumate professionals they want us to think they are.

Like I said, this guy knows nothing, about, well probably everything

folks, you need to be introduced to the following:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore's_law

how the hell is a ps4 going to out perform a PC for YEARS TO COME, when a pc can be upgraded and a PS4 can't????

I will name just one game that runs better on a PC than a console..... Crysis 3.

What would said pc cost to run Crysis 3 the way it's supposed to be played? Probably doesn't matter if you are an enthusiast, but to millions of regular joes out there it does. Having been caught up in the upgrading cycle myself over the years, I have never been quite satisfied with what I had, always looking for the next best thing. It grows...tiresome. End of the day, I want to go back to where it all started for me. Just enjoying the game. Not having to worry about how many frames I'm getting, or being able to play the "latest and greatest" at ultra. Point in case, a customer of mine phoned me a few days ago, asking why his Crysis 3 doesn't run on his son's computer. Turns out he had a bit of an outdated GPU, and needed DX11. Now he has to pay quite a few rands for a midrange GPU, just to be able to play a game he paid a few hundred rands for.

To the tired debates of console games being more expensive, sure, most are at launch. Though I don't hear any complaints about some pc games/ports going at $60 at launch. Or some of the massive patches you need to download day one. Got uncapped? Lucky you. Still need to download that 12GB patch (this happened to me twice with The Witcher 2, bought through Steam and for some reason when the game was patched, you had to download the entire game again). Also, don't know how PS+ is going to work with the PS4, but if it's similiar to the PS3's and Vita's, then that subscription alone would make it worthwile to me.

Both have it's Pros and Cons. Like Xero I have started leaning more in favour of consoles. I will always have my pc as it has it's uses. But sadly, the pc can't do what consoles can so best. Getting friends snotdronk and playing party games. I will leave it at that but oh, the stories I could tell...

The specs on the PS4 there are pretty impressive compared to the current consoles and basic computers but when i compare it with my custom gaming PC i doesn't stand a chance, but the time the PS4 is released i would have upgraded more than what my rig is now, ;)

Seriously - you could buy both of the upcoming consoles for the price of a single nvidia GTX Titan, no
For me, my next hardware upgrade on my PC is a 27" iMAC. That will be used for coding, photo editing and general surfing / productivity.
When it comes to gaming, consoles have won in my mind.

Forget Nvidea, AMD RADEON GPUs are better tech. People here continue to buy into the myth of the super computer needed to run games. And forget about MAC. That will only increase how much you spend on computers.

The PC platform is still the best for everything, and a basic entry level PC (just not a Celeron CPU) with 4GB - 8GB of RAM (RAM is ultra cheap these days) and 1TB - 3TB HDD is all you need. My processor is a G630, which cost me under R500. I'll bump this to an i3 when / if I need it. I'll bump my memory to 12GB when I finally switch to 64 bit OS (soon).

I will never buy a graphics card that costs over R1000. The 7000 series RADEONs will be available in this price range within 12 - 18 months. In the meantime, the card, I've got is completely adequate.

I'm inclined to ask what games you're playing, at which quality and resolution level? Along with what the core function of your PC is :?

I kind of think you need to be a bit clearer on your HD 7000 series price drop expectation. Are you referring to the low or mid tier cards (I doubt you're referring to the top tier cards)?

I smell a fanboy...please explain to me why Nvidia gpu's come out directly after AMD released theirs? Explain to me why the Nvidia gpu's always outpower their AMD counterpart? Exactly. Both brands are good, I just prefer nvidia because green is my favorite color and they have much better driver support.

Also you say you will never buy a gpu that costs over R1000, may I ask what you are adequate with in terms of graphics?
