PSU Viable?

I have:
Phenom II x2 565 BE Non-OC
Gigabyte 7750 1GB
MSI 760GM-P23(FX)
4GB RAM
Isonic 420W PSU( +3.5 years old)
Edit: 1Tb segate barracuda 4 months old

I suspect i need a new PSU as the PC randomly shuts down if i play very intensive games and some not so intensive,such as DoTA 2 i played on the highest graphic setting and it shut the pc down twice(mid game:( ) then once i set it lower it stayed on. BF3 shut it down in like 2-3 mins, its not over heating because i monitored the CPU Temp while i played and its happened while i was browsing the web aswell. I dont have another PSU to test it out but the PSU i curently have is the only old old compnent i have the rest was bought end of 2012. id like to get this PSUll but im not sure if it would support the components i have.

People would be much more willing to help if they didn't need a Rosetta Stone to decipher wtf your saying. Ignoring that for a second:

Hows the GPU temps?

On the whole though, replacing a 420 Watt PSU causing shutdowns with a 430W PSU seems like a less than inspired plan.
 
Sounds more like overheating than a psu problem unless its overheating itself.

If it is then replace with a higher watt one like over 600 coolmaster may be overkill but at least you have it when you want to upgrade eventually.
 
If you do a stress test on the cpu using prime 95 or occ what does the temp go to and what happens? then you can see what the gpu does using Heaven

also does it shutdown completely? does it beep or make any sounds? check if your bios cpu temp alarms are on

The most likely cause is that the PSU isn't able to handle the voltages and power requirements in its advanced age. I'd get that Corsair, it's a good brand and a great little PSU. If you're keeping the system the way it is for the next year or so, you don't need to invest in a bigger PSU.
 
Thanks for the input guys, I tested it with an older working PSU just the MB and onboard graphics with the HDD nothing extra ran it all night and didnt turn off tried playing LoL and worked although FPS wasnt so great, ive found this as at the end of the year i might change the CPU to a hex or quad hopefully, should i rather save a bit more and get the 600w? I wont be changing anything else hardware wise.
 
You can pick up the 500W, there won't be anything on your system that'll draw more than that PSU can deliver, even when you pop in something like the FX-6300.
 
Wow that GS600 locally is out of my range at the moment as i want to buy a new case aswell >.< looking at the carbide 300R, ill get the 500W Corsair for the moment thanks guys :)
 
During your tests you ran with the onboard GFX Card instead of the add on card you normally use, have you tried the other PSU with the GFX Card you normally use?
Reason for asking is that this could be the PCI-E port either causing the shutdown in terms of draining power OR it could be the GPU itself, I've seen them overheat and then put the PC in stasis before

Test EVERYTHING, that's the golden rule of hardware troubleshooting
