Quake 4 relaunching on PC and Xbox in June

Why? I don't get it. You can buy it now, you were able to do this all the time and now they are relaunching? confused?
 
Yeah, and for cheap is like R60. I think Incredible Connection has a bazillion of them in their "great" collection of games.
Even the 2nd hand market is pretty flooded with Quake 4 copies.
I don't understand this

Bethesda now own the Id label so republishing it means they get a cut of any new sales.

I thought it was bland and boring back when it was released. I dont imagine it ageing all that well.
 
I've always been more of an Unreal fan. I started off on Doom 1 & 2, then jumped to Duke3D (missed Heretic and all the other ID games) and then jumped to Unreal Tournament and never looked back (or sideways I suppose since the first quake came out around the same time I think). I saw someone else play one of the Quake games once and it just didn't appeal to me so at $20, that would be a no.

While I don't share in the hate for this game, relaunching a game that is available on Super Hits already (for example) doesn't make any sense, whatsoever.
 
I wonder how much Bethesda/id paid to get the rights? Quake 4 was originally made by Raven Software and published by Activision.
 
Quake 4 wasn't bad story-wise, it was just the gameplay that was seriously lacking. I'd be interested in a remake of Quake 4 with better gameplay.
 
Quake 2 was the best quake, finished it countless times.
But really they should just remake doom 3, or even better - where is our doom4?? Pawning this shit story rage on us instead... Pfft.

Actually ID needs to come out of the corridor era. I'd rather not have another doom 3, imho someone like visceral would make a great doom...
