Quake Live Open Beta

Haven't even tried playing a match yet internationally, don't like wasting international bandwith on all the updates that it continously downloads each time. Don't think we'll get playable pings either from SA, but I'll still check it out. :)
 
One of my concerns was that having it in the browser might be a little problematic for bandwidth starved SA, but we'll see how it goes. It might use a caching system that saves the important data files to your hard drive.
 
Hai hai! I hope there's a progress bar that will help me determine whether I should wait or give up.
 
The twitter feed says it is 4 hours away, which makes it 2am our time.

There is also a seconds counter on the site as well, but that looks like 11 hours, so not sure which to believe at this point.
Guess start with the 2am one, since it is a post that was made that said systems are being tested and everything is on schedule for 4 hours from now.
 
I worked out that the numbers counting down on the site also equate to 2am. That's a tad late so I'll have a look tomorrow.

I worked it out to be 5am tomorrow (25th) for the release.. 24000 seconds left, so we looking at over 6 hours here
