Now that the game has been released on Steam, is anyone playing? I'm having a huge amount of fun with it so far.

I've been contemplating downloading it but none of my friends play.

I should have you on Steam so I'll download it tonight
 
Reminds me of Open Arena from the first minute. I'll watch the rest of the video tonight when my bandwidth kicks in, but in the meantime I was wondering if this is just an hd version of quake 3 arena?

It's Quake Live on steam with some tweaks. Quake Live was playable in a browser and all they've done now is put it on steam. Thats as far as I know.

Oh. I didn't even know there was such a thing. And I call my self a gamer :o
 
I might give it a go. I played it when it first came out as a free to play game.

I must try it. I've played Openarena to death, and quake 3 back in the day. Can you practice single player with bots or is this only online?
 
It's good but you need to pay $35 to host your own servers, and there are no local servers :/ in quake you need a sub 50 ping to make it playable, otherwise you are going to have a lot of lag.

I am stupid. Got to use the filter function... X_x there are local servers! MY BAD!
 
Downloaded it, started it up. instant CTD...but steam still counted as playing so i got playfire reward for it and deleted.. :P
 
Apparently being good at Quake 3 means you cheat? I joined 3 servers was was kicked from 2 for being "too good"... and the 3rd emptied out when I was winning by 20 frags. I am far from world class by any means.

Just play online - as I said the skill level doesn't seem murderous. (I played one game & consistently owned 7 okes and got owned by 1 oke). And thats like first game getting used to mouse sensitivity etc.
