QuakeWorld (Quake) servers

Last year i mentioned i had set up some QuakeWorld servers in Johannesburg for whoever feels like playing on them. If you don't have the game there's a package on www.nquake.com that most players use nowadays. The servers are still up and recently had an addition to them in the form of the ability to play vs bots. The bots work primarily on the Allround servers listed below and you can play vs all bots or perhaps team up with your mate against bots for teamplay practice.

Available game modes
Deathmatch modes: 1on1, 2on2, 4on4, FFA

Example: how to get a 2on2 match going on the map Aerowalk
  1. Type connect za.refragged.com:28501 in console to connect to server
  2. Type aerowalk in console to change map
  3. Type 2on2 in console to activate 2on2 mode/rules
  4. Set team by typing team <teamname> in console
  5. If required, add bots by typing botcmd addbot in console
  6. Type ready in console and countdown should begin
  7. Shoot something!
Available bot commands
(Type botcmd to get a list of these)
botcmd skill - Adjust skill level of bots (1 worst, 20 best)
botcmd addbot - Add a bot
botcmd fill - Fill up empty slots with bots
botcmd removebot - Remove a bot
botcmd removeall - Remove all bots

Servers
za.refragged.com:27500 - Free for all
za.refragged.com:28501 - Allround1 (1on1, 2on2, 4on4 etc...)
za.refragged.com:28502 - Allround2
za.refragged.com:28503 - Allround3
za.refragged.com:28504 - Allround4

This is almost better news than local servers for BF1 for me! I will give this a go! No, I am not addicted to Quake, nor do I have a problem....btw, check my current desktop wallpaper.

It would be nice to try to get a few people playing in ZA, so don't hesitate to bring a friend. :)

If you want to join the larger community then there's always the QuakeWorld Discord on http://discord.quake.world to have a chat and also the main QW hub on www.quakeworld.nu useful primarily for its forum.

Edit: that's a nice wallpaper indeed :D

The free for all server will now automatically add a few bots after you join, to get that instant action, and remove them as more players join.

To connect, just type in console:
connect za.refragged.com:27500

Remember that you can get the game on www.nquake.com (hover the download button and choose your Windows/Linux/OSX flavour)
 
Servers are still online and i'd like to suggest, to those of you who like raw carnage on your own or in coop rather than multiplayer, the Bloodfest mod which is a wave based survival mode with quads dropping randomly from killed enemies.

To get it rolling:
connect za.refragged.com:28501
type votecoop in console
type bloodfest
type ready
