R100 000 to build a complete PC..What would you go for?

The Joker

Thread Killer MKII
Hey guys

So I've wanted to ask you guys this a long time ago, but never got around to it.
I want you guys to build a pc to the value of R100 000, not going over or under it (R5000 Max under).

Take some time and put together the machine with the parts you would use, provide links and tell me why you went for that specific spec. I don't want people just choosing the most expensive stuff, get a bit creative and come up with something insane.

R100 000 includes everything, Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor/s.
You can pretty much use any parts available in SA.

I'll post my own build in the next few days but I'd really like to see what you guys come up with.

Hi Guys.

I threw this build together today. I ran out of money...(LOL R100 000). I would probably do watercooling if I was buying in America. This build is a setup which I will explain when I find some time later. What do you think?

Okay, so for my first attempt at a R100k PC, I went to Evetech and used their online tool to quickly build a PC. I will however go away this weekend and come up with something else even more custom.

So first up we have the case...and I'm going with the Cooler Master CM Storem Stryker Gaming Case. The power will be provided by a Corsair Professional Platinum AX1200i 80+ Fully Modular PSU.

Not to be too greedy, I'm sticking with the affordable Intel Core i7 477K CPU, with a Corsair H100i water cooling unit keeping the temps to a low. These components will find their home in the Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z87 motherboard, because who DOESN'T want a mobo that has the words "Maximus" and "Extreme" in the name. RAM is pushed to a measly 32GB DDR3 2400Mhz, but there is some method in my madness I promise...

And so the GPU's, well obviously there is only one option, and that is not 1, not 2, but 3 AMD Sapphire R9-280X cards. I believe you will not really have a problem with next gen gaming on these...

Now disc space I made my first bold decision...I put 4 Vector 512GB SSD! That's 2TB of SSD awesomeness...

Obviously a Blu-Ray Writer will be added to the mix (yeah, people do still use discs from time to time)

And now, the windows to the soul of the PC; the screens. Please note the plural, as this machine demands to have at least 2 screens. So I picked 2 Dell UltraSharp 27" LED monitors. You may have to buy new desks, but at R100k, that's a minor consideration...

I noticed that the motherboard has 4 PCI-E slots, but only 3 GPU's. And you cannot expect ANY slots not to be filled on this beast of a machine. So why not a Soundcard, for all you audiophiles out there. I added the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD PCIe card. To complement that baby, add a Creative Inspire S2 2.1 Wireless Speaker System, and these are chosen for 2 reasons. One, the are wireless, and that is just awesome; and two, they are frieken wireless. What's not to love about them!!!

Next up we have the additional equipment. We will add a Seagate Backup Plus Desk 3TB 3.5" External Drive to add all the series and movies and game install files; we add a NZXT Sentry 2 Touch Screen Fan Controller & Temperature Display because it's awesome. We add from the same company some NZXT Sleeved LED Case Lighting - Blue to pimp it to the max.

The peripherals are all handles by Razer; Razer Deathstalker Ultimate Expert Gaming Keyboard, Razer Ouroboros Expert Wireless Gaming Mouse, Razer Ironclad Surface Pad, and some Razer Chimaera T1 5.1 Gaming Headset for those nights of late night "gaming".

To round off the package, I throw in Microsoft Windows 8 Pro, and to keep all those nasty bugs away, ESET NOD32 Anti-Virus. You will probably need it some sooner or later (and there is some budget left), so we'll throw in Microsoft Office 2013 Pro as well.

And there you have it, a full PC worth a price of R99207, so not only is it awesome, but you'll have enough budget left to buy a game or two or three to test this beast out on.

LOL...the last line killed me :D
Nice build. I want to see what you come up with without Evetech though.

Liking what I am seeing guys keep it up :D
There is actually a reason behind this, using this for some research :)

Might just give away some goodies to a couple of guys. Please put some effort in :D

Unfortunately I'm no good at this stuff, which is why I got an expert to build my machine. ;)

lol. I didn't think it was possible till I happened across this article.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57591437-37/how-much-will-apples-new-mac-pro-cost/

You'd be able to get an almost fully pimped up Mac Pro for $12,350 (I know it's over budget but we can all dream right?) and still need to buy a monitor with it. Yes, I know it's not a PC but it looks sexy and has a few Xeon's adding 12 cores to the mix with duel AMD FirePro GPU's. Slap Steam OS on that baby and you got yourself a killer gaming rig. :)

Okay so let me win all the internets quickly...

The Xeon and Firepros are not built for gaming, you would have a very expensive machine for 3D applications but not for gaming.

Instead of all those lights etc, why not get a custom Airbrushed design on the case?
There is a company that do them in SA that charge around 8k for a complete full size tower

Seems like most people are going with LGA 1150 even though this is a R100 000 build. Someone must do a custom loop build (Maybe I will do it) :D

Ok this is my dream build, with items mostly from Titan-Ice and Rebeltech since that's where I do my shopping.

Starting with peripherals :

UPS : APC BACK-UPS BX800CI 800VA UPS, R1,479 from Titan Ice. Many people seem to overlook a ups when building a pc.

Mouse : RAZER OUROBOROS , R1,718 from RebelTech.

Keyboard : ROCCAT Isku FX , R1,549 from Titan Ice.

Headset : Razer Tiamat 7.1 , R2,199 from Titan Ice.

Surround sound system : SONY TZ530 DAV SYSTEM, R2,306 from Rebeltech.

Monitor : x2 ASUS MX299Q 27" Ultra-wide 21:9, R9,549 x2 = R19018 from Titan Ice.

product_LC-AMX299Q.jpg

Now for the case accessories :

Case : LIAN LI PC-A77F, R2,913 from Rebeltech.
images.jpg

Fans : x4 CORSAIR SP120 PERFORMANCE, R132 x4 = R528 from Rebeltech.
x2 BITFENIX BFF-SPRO-P14025KK-RP SPECTRE PRO PWM, R178 x2 = R356 from Rebeltech.

Liquid Cooling :

Radiator: XSPC AX240 Dual Fan Radiator , R1,379 from Titan Ice.

Reservoir: ICS Flange Reservoir - Red , R570 from Titan Ice.

Waterblock :

CPU : XSPC RayStorm CPU WaterBlock , R849 from Titan Ice.

GPU : XSPC Rasa Universal GPU Waterblock, R749 from Titan Ice.

Ok I've excluded tubing&clamps as well as the coolant, those are just the raw outlines.

Now onto the insides of the pc :

CPU :INTEL CORE I7-3960X, 3.3GHZ, R11,358 from Rebeltech.

GPU : A single ASUS HD7990-6GD5, 6GB 768BIT , R14,568 from Rebeltech.
Radeon-HD-7990-Cooling.jpg

RAM : CORSAIR CMD32GX3M4A2400C10, DOMINATOR PLATINUM WITH DHX TECHNOLOGY, R7,041 from Rebeltech. 2400 frequency = monster. And it's 32GB.

Motherboard : ASRock X79 Extreme11 Motherboard, R6,399 from Titan Ice.
product_MTB619.jpg

The E-ATX format is huge, I think the lian li case supports e-atx mobos.

PSU : Corsair AX 1200W Modular, R3,899 from Titan Ice.
download.jpg

HDD(internal) : Western Digital RE 4TB SATA 6Gbs 3.5" HDD, R4,799 from Titan ice.

SSD : SAMSUNG 840 PRO 512GB, R6,240 from Rebeltech.

HDD(external) : SEAGATE STBN6000200 BUSINESS STORAGE 6TB Gigabit network ready , R5,049 from Rebeltech. Basically x2 3TB HDDs inside a very pretty box. A good place to store pron. Also good for those like me who have a gigabit network in their homes.

Everything comes to +-95k. This is definitely my dream machine. So if anybody has 100k to blow, call me.

Edit : forgot to add some Demcifilters. About 6 of them for the fans.
