Hi guys.
Lightning took out my pc , the insurance company got the report from the assessors who took my pc for investigation,
They want me to get a quote of what I need and send it to them.

Given R30 000 , which is what I insured the pc for ,
what would be a good build ? Intel / AMD ? Which screencard ? Mother board ? etc ?
I need a entire new pc , i should get my pc case back.

Would like to see what you guys would get if you had 30K for a new pc.

Yeah Joker is your man! Joker why not play around with a AMD setup as well? I'm very curious and tempted to get a AMD system in the future. Mabe just waiting on the new range of cpu's to come out. And Graphics prices to drop a bit.

At this moment in time AMD can't really compete with Intel with CPU power.
I'll gladly do a AMD setup for the OP if he is keen on a full AMD system :)

@ OP
I'll gladly help out :D

You have a pm :)

I would get a Intel Celeron 2.2Ghz, 128MB DDR RAM Module, 80 GB really fast hard drive, Voodoo II GFX (beast card), Ivory white Microsoft Keyboard and mouse, Ivory white 15" epic monitor.

You will be bitching with this ^.

I vouch for this. Will run all the latest games on highest settings full everything. Don't forget the white speakers that will give some epic sound :p

I forgot the speakers!

I think we might be over budget now. May need to trim down the hard drive size.

30k from insurance? Strikes me as somewhat unlikely...those guys a stingy bastards & usually won't even cover replacement, let alone a sweet upgrade.

Then I presume you have one lying around that you would like to sell? Maybe even do special offer to sweeten that deal?

Why spend so much dosh on it?

:edit
lol, insurance.

If you've specified it under your household items at R30k replacement value, and you're paying the premium on the R30k value, then if the PC is a writeoff, they will pay.

You just pay quite a high premium for a PC insured for that amount.

Yip quite correct.
I built a pc for a guy for 20k, also insurance pay out after lightning nailed his pc.

What do you think of this build ?
Pretty decent gaming pc that should last me a while

Video Card 2x - Club 3D Radeon Graphics Card HD6990 - 4GB 256Bit GDDR5 - PCI-E R 14,620
Processor Intel Boxed Core i7 2600K Processor - 3.40GHz Quad Core Socket 1155 - CPU R 3,231
Memory Corsair Vengeance - 16GB ( 4 x 4GB ) DDR3 1600MHz R 1,279
Hard Drive OCZ VERTEX 3 SATA III 2.5 Inch 240GB Solid State Drive R 3,766
CD-ROM Liteon - iHAS524-T32 B - 24 Speed DVD Super All-Write - SATA R 188
Power Supply Thermaltake ToughPower ST - 1350Watt Gaming Power Supply R 2,616
Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V Pro - Intel Socket 1155 Motherboard R 2,566
Case Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 Gaming Chassis - No Power Supply Unit R 1,690
Total : R 29,956

I assume your other storage drives survived?
Rather go for 2 x 7970's here instead of the 6990's?
Why not go for 2 x 8gb Corsair Vengence 1600MHz memory? (leaves space for future upgrades)
