The Public Works department spent nearly R65 million renovating the homes of ministers and deputy ministers in the 2011-2012 financial year, the Sunday Times reported.

The newspaper said Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi had admitted this in a parliamentary response to an MP's question on December 14.

The renovation bills include: R15 million spent on a Cape Town house allocated to Rural Development Minister Gugile Nkwinti, an overhaul to a house costing R10.67 million which...read more here: R65 million spent renovating homes of ministers

instead of spending money to build houses to provide free accommodation for the millions without a roof over their heads, they spend it to refurbish the mansions of the ministers...can't wait to get out of this country.

These people have too much money to spend on nonsense.
There are people within the same country who can only dream of even having a small enough house in which they can live.
Why do these ministers need refurbished houses? What, their lavish lifestyles keeping them too busy to deal with fixing their own houses?

The unfortunate thing is, in most countries when minister's get given homes, they are not allowed to redo the whole house. In SA every time someone new moves in, the gut the place and redo it better and bigger - aka more money so that they can brag.

:wtf: Like really, what the actual Fsck?! It's this sort of thing that's going to have some of us leaving this country for good... Do they even know how far R65 million could have gone into solving some of this countries problems. But noooo, pure luxury is too urgent:mad:.

Chikunga said it was "unfortunate and unfair" to be linked to the exorbitant spending.
"I have never requested renovations of R10-million."

She also never refused them

Is it possible to sue the government and ask for my tax money back? I've always wondered about that.

I'd like to know as well. While withholding tax money won't do the country any favors, because whatever is left will just be plundered, it would be better if our tax money goes to an organization that would allocate the funds. I read somewhere about such an organization existing.

@ Dee, The usual weak ass excuses.... It's cool - let them enjoy the gravy at the expense of everyone, their time will come, as it always does.

It would be great if such an organization existed (that's if the government's disease doesn't spread there as well:rolleyes:)

Meh... Come next year, if a certain party remains in charge, I'm getting out of dodge (No jokes).
