Racing Games?

Wrong, if a non racing game has a racing element then its gonna suck and just be frustrating.

I'm with Ike on this one, most of the time they get the physics wrong.

Some games have had acceptable results with regards to in game vehicle use. Notably the Battlefield series and Far Cry 2 where using vehicles in game seems rather natural and not like an afterthought.

I played this MMO called Project Powder, which is basically a snowboard racing game and was really cool. Was really competitive. And then there is also Tropical Heat, which is a jet ski racing game for the PC. The full version is still being developed but the demo (which is actually fun) can be played for free (http://tropicalheatgame.com/). I remember playing a free motorcycle game on the PC but I forgot the name....not sure if you were allowed to do tricks on the game though.

Have to go with the dirt series, been playing dirt 3 and its SIK! havent played many other racing games since the days of midnight club and the like

Funnily enough I am quite enjoying the new Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2012.
At first it kinda bored me and wasn't to intrigued, But then I gave it another chance, and honestly I am quite enjoying it.
It's getting a lot of bad reviews from players that I know, but if you give it a chance and play it with an open mind, It's a great game.
Especially on full Graphics ;)

The funniest thing about reviews of racing games, is when players complain about the physics/handling being "impossible." Facepalm. Learn to use the brakes... "whistling:

Colin McRae are my favourite racing games. Played the first and second ones to death. Awesome games; Group B Audi on a long night stage... Heaven.

Does anyone here use any wheels/controllers other than a keyboard for racing games? I have a Logitech MOMO wheel. Since I got it trying to race with the keyboard has been like trying to ride a bicycle wearing stilts.

Agreed, that's the biggest issue I see, lack of breaking.

I'm using an Xbox wireless controller for windows. It was so awesome to see the improvement in my lap times. I just don't have the funds to invest in a proper racing wheel and the cheap ones aren't really worth it.

I used to have a Logitech Momo wheel, but found it too bulky. It's awesome for racing games, but eats up a lot of desk real estate.

Would love to get my hand on the Steelseries SRW-S1 wheel though.

But it doesn't have any force feedback.
Have you seen the Ferrari one by Thrustmasters, that's my dream wheel there but I need to win the lotto first.
