Radeon HD 7950 local pricing

I might just ask one of the 'mericans here at work to bring one over. I need to replace my poor old 4890 (the old gal needs a rest).
 
I was gonna dump my current cards and get 2 x 7970's. But the prices are fucking ludicrous! Think I'll wait for the 6xx series from Nvidia..
 
will have to wait and see about the gtx 680, but i think this card should have been clocked at 900 default, 800 is a bit on the low side, because it can do stupid high overclocks.
 
It's a good card no question, but should you buy it right now? No. Just like the 5850 which was in high demand, saw a nice price hike especially in SA. Waiting a little longer to see what nVidia come out with is the best option. It will also force competition which brings the price down. Generally nVidia cards have outperformed AMD's resulting in AMD trying to offer more value, by lowering the price to stay competitive. I predict it will happen yet again, especially with the rumour that the nVidia lineup may be stronger.

I am by no mean's a nVidia fan, the new Tahiti cards on 28nm are very impressive, a friend of mine has bought the 7970 on launch and it's quite the beast. I just think the logical thing to do is wait for the market to settle, you will save yourself alot of money. I picked up the 6970 shortly after launch for only R2999, buy smart :)

Not to long but i am not sure they releasing there king of the hill first. If i recall from what i been gathering on the net, nVidia is releasing it the other way around. I could be wrong but we will have to wait and see. They said Q2 2012. Which is almost here. Since Q1 is almost done.

I am waiting for nVidia releases cause i kinda only use their Gpus maybe on my next build i will try AMD once again.
