Radeon R9, R7 cards launch details

so if the cards are based on existing 7970 vanilla and 7750 cards, whats the advantage with these?

They are not based on the vanilla 7xxx cards.
They are based on the Ghz editions, they have slightly higher clocks and some new features.
We won't know about performance till the 8th of this month when the NDA lifts and we get some reviews.

The R9 is a brand new flagship card from AMD, we'll have to wait for the confirmed specs and reviews to judge but from what I have seen and heard they are monster cards with a monster price tag, well not as bad as Titan...
