Rand exchange leap and its SA retail effects

Kalahari has been exceptional with their pricing, not their sales though...

I mainly use them or Takealot, so between them I'm always comparing and keeping a look out on their sales...

But most of my shopping is done for this year, only things coming are GOTY for Injustice & Dues Ex HR

otherwise my spending is capped and I'm waiting for X1 pricing and availability...

I've been trying not to actually buy new games lately, rather taking advantage of ps+ games and buying older games that are cheaper

With the rand taking such a beating, I haven't been able to buy any just-released games. The cost of living is so high at the moment, and I refuse to let myself go into debt. So luxury items are scarce at my house this year.

I normally have to wait for BT games or an online store to have a special before I buy it. I think the most expensive game I bought this year, was Bioshock Infinite, and that was R300 because Dions Wired had a special.

The way prices keep going up, it looks like I will have to trawl through Cash Converters and BT games second-hand section for games.

But I might break my own rules if Watch Dogs or the new Batman get some spectacular reviews lol!

Lol....i also battle to spend money on games these days...just seems so damn expensive! humblebundle for the win tho...colelction still growing! :D

yeah its getting me down since the xmas specials are around the corner and might not get so many games(10) again for R500.

The expense of the dollar is being felt in most retail markets involved with technology. I hope at some point soon things change before we as a gaming community are forced to find a cheaper hobby

If someone can figure out how to get rid of Malema, that should strengthen the Rand. It got stronger when he was kicked out of the ANC

Matt, he's far from our only problem, Zooooomer and cadres are more of a problem, I don't care who is in charge as long as they are competent, which a lot of the current politicians are not...

It would be a start though, and I'd rather have Zoomer than Malema

I have learnt not to buy any other games other than Battlefield. I just dont get any moneys worth out of anything else. I have plenty other games but I just never play them, so its a waste of money to buy anything else. Pretty happy where I am at the moment in that regard.

While US government is shutdown the dollar will suffer, Take advantage :D

Not necessarily. The usual would be for investors to avoid emerging market currencies (like the Rand) and head for stronger currencies (like the US Dollar, Euro), which would unfortunately weaken the buying power of the emerging market currencies. Bizarre but that is usually what happens.

Yeah McT is right. A bad US economy is actually worse for us than the opposite. So we actually need those guys to get back to properly managing their economy so we can get back to buying things cheaper.

Yeah games are just to damn expensive these days, that's why i have established my own gaming slush fund. nip 200 bucks every month from my paycheck and put it in an account and when the right title comes around i can buy it.don't have to buy every single game out there only buy the good ones or the ones you really need.

Test the games out first with Demos and so on.
