RE: Upgrade Time or not?

Ok Hi there

I'm opening up a new topic cause the previous topic was getting out of hand.

Ok so here is the question and please just take it calm

my current specs is:

Intel q9450 @ 3.3GHz with zalman cnps9700
MSI p45-platinum
4GB DDR@ 1066MHz RAM
Lots of HDD and SSD as os drive
GTX280 1GB OC edition
Cooler master Storm Sniper
650TX Corsair PSU

want to upgrade to

MSI P67A-GD65
4GB DDR3 1800mhz RAM
Keeping my GTX280
i7-2600 or i5-2500

or

GTX560 Twin frozer II

I don't care if the SATA ports are fixed or not just tell me will performance be worth R5K or not The GPU is about R3K. Maybe I should wait for next GPU/Intel releases?

Please people let's just stay on topic!!!!!. If your comment is not on topic rather don't comment please!!!!!

Regards

I really think you should ask Xerowing for his opinion. He is really good with these kind of things and extremely knowledgeable regarding the Sandy bridge chipsets. Maybe drop him a PM and speak to him directly. I'm pretty sure he can and would want to help you...

So this is a Anti xerowing Post thread...

You are not allowed here :D

Every one can make a comment.. xerowing has read only rights :D

I'm posting here because in all honesty I feel sorry for you, no other reason, for your other comments you can frankly go ahead and bite me for all I care

This is a direct benchmark between a Q9450 System and a Core i7 2600 System
Note the GFX Card And Ram Differences
That aside though, read the two links to the CPU test libraries and you will see the remarkable difference between the performance in the two.

Q9450 System:

Q9450 @ 3.6Ghz (Overclocked)
DDR2 4GB Corsair Dominator
GTX 295 @ Stock
Asus Rampage Formula X48

http://jack-brennan.com/oddpages/aida-new.html

i7 System

i7-2600K @ Stock
GA-P67A-UD7
GTX 580 @ Stock
DDR3 Corsair Vengence 8GB 8-8-8-24 1600Mhz

http://jack-brennan.com/oddpages/aida-2600.htm

3D Mark Vanatage Scores:
3DMark Vantage

Q9450 @ 3.6Ghz and GTX 295 Stock - No PhysX
3D Mark vantage 1.0.2
3DMark Score Performance: 17071
GPU Sore: 18169
CPU Score: 14453

Core i7-2600 @ Stock with GTX 580 Stock - No PhysX
3D Mark vantage 1.0.2
3DMark Score Performance: 24724
GPU Sore: 25011
CPU Score: 23903

So to conclude, upgrading for the jump in performance @ R5k is worth it, but I would strongly recommend upgrading the GFX Card FIRST and then the CPU

There now I've done your Homework for you :)

We are not in your threat stealing your cookies...
It is Thread*-sort of like a blog on a forum, except where a blog is more about the person who wrote it, a thread is more open to discussion on a topic<-----------THIS IS WHAT THIS THING IS WE ARE WRITING ON

Threat- a declaration of an intention or determination to inflict punishment, injury, etc., in retaliation for, or conditionally upon, some action or course; menace: He confessed under the threat of imprisonment.

You sir are a Pillock.
Pillock-A person who commits a stupid act or one who's stupidity backfires.

I have 2 ideas for you Dice:
1.Take the 5k, go to some loose club with loose girls.Pick a target, buy her R4950 worth of cider(other R50 bucks for jimmy hats, don't want you to catch anything just yet) and get rid of your anger. You are way too tense buddy.
2.Take R3000 of the 5k, use it on Engrish classes and take the rest and do Option 1.

Oh, ye, before I forget..

Thanx Xeroing for the post about the specs... You did some nice homework there... Will spare a few people to go do it them selves...

Thanks Xerowing. I already saw that but the problem is The one pc is a 580 and the otther one is a gtx295. I also thought a GPU upgrade will be the first thing I will upgrade.

BTW I'm begging you guys to. I've already forgotten about everything. would like to see 3dmark vantage scores on the same system different GPU's. example a q9450 with gtx560 or a i7 with gtx560

Disregard the Scores for the GPU's
Both of those results, from 3D Mark as well as the AIDA one has a CPU section, that displays core clock speed, load etc
Keep in mind that Vantage runs seperate tests on CPU and GFX Cards, so the CPU score is exactly that

Ok, knowing that new chipsets are going to be released by AMD and intel soon... I would wait for that to happen before upgrading (otherwise you sit with problems like Cougar point)

SO, I would get a GPU first (the 560Ti is a monster) then wait a bit for the release of the new chipsets... due in june.

Thats exactly what I'm doing, my dual core is getting a bit long in the tooth, even though I want to upgrade right now I know that the next generation of chipsets are right around the corner.
