Recomend a good, affordable external HDD

Hi,

I have R1000 available on buying a good and cheap external hard drive. I was hoping to get maybe 1.5 - 2TB of space. I don't care about how big/small the size of the hard drive is, and it doesn't matter if its usb powered or needs an external source of power.

I can buy on any good online store.

Thanks.

Think Game has nice special now, actually everywhere you can find 2tb external for R1000 now... Try Game! Got a Western Digital 2TB, I like! :D

Its usually one year with the place you bought it from and then a 2nd or 3rd year depending on brand with the manufacturers themselves.

Makro had a similar deal to this a small while ago. I doubt it's still valid though...
2TB ext HDD + 12gb flash drive + Antivirus.. for R1000.00

I got this special from Makro last week. This was on special last week and the week before so if you're lucky, it might still be on special. It is USB3 so it is as fast as an internal hard drive.

I've had multiple bad experiences with Western Digital (internal drives) in the past so I avoid them like the plague.

Im sitting with the makro catalogue infront of me . And it has a seagate 2TB HDD external plus 16GB flash drive plus AVG 2013 internetsecurity for R999 . It is till 24 Desember. this will be your best bet . I do however advise making sure if it is a USB 3 drive and 2.5" External.

The SKU for the product is - 243483 . I can prolly take a photo and email it if you need it.

I was looking at the R599 1TB WD at game this weekend,

Okay, so I decided to buy a 1TB USB 3.0 / USB 2.0 Western Digital 2.5 Inch Portable Hard Drive from www.Takealot.com on the 19th December 2012, at 9:45PM. I did the EFT on internet banking around that time. I didn't pick the 2TB at game because its only USB 2.0 and I only need 1TB. (I got another hard drive).

I use Standard Bank. So, I decided to pick the EFT method, where they give me their account number. They had 2 Account numbers - one for ABSA and one for Nedbank. I chose the ABSA one, so I deposited the money, through Internet Banking, to the ABSA Account, which is a savings account.

I e-mailed them this morning, with the proof of payment, and also faxed them the proof of payment. When I now check on Takealot.com to see if the "awaiting payment" status is gone, it is still there. I log into Standard Bank Internet banking, checked on the transactions that have happened on my account, and it says that the transaction to TAKEALOT happened today (20th December 2012).

What I want to ask now is, how long does it take for the money to move from Standard Bank to ABSA? I did the EFT thing on the 19th, and my transaction history says the money went through on the 20th.

And yes, I double checked the Account number (the ABSA one), every digit is correct. Should I call these people now and see whats going on? Ive e-mailed and faxed them, no response.

It can take up to 2 days to reflect in the Absa account. It will most likely reflect overnight so they should be able to ship tomorrow.

Yep, two working days is the norm. If you're lucky, it happens in one day.
Luckily with Takealot, as soon as they get the funds, they'll probably deliver that same day (depending on your location). I've had a couple of same-day deliveries from them now.

If they only see the payment reflect on the weekend, do they deliver on weekends too? I have used Sybaritic before and they didn't deliver over the weekend. I checked again now on Standard Bank's Internet Banking, and the proof of payment E-mail (I selected the option for it to send the proof of payment via e-mail) only shows up now that it was sent.
