Recommend a browser

So I'm stuck in an annoying position of being unhappy with Firefox, Chrome and Opera...which doesn't leave much else (don't even dare suggest Internet Explorer :D)

1) Firefox stops responding frequently and is chowing my resources like there's no tomorrow. I'm currently using it but it's getting to the point of extreme frustration now.
2) Chrome, whilst awesome, grinds to a halt when I open around 4 tabs. It, too, stops responding then. It also lacks the full WSIWIG editing on forums.
3) Opera wants to load the entire page before displaying it, instead of loading it in parts (is it possible to change this somehow?)

So that doesn't leave much else. I just basically want something quick, that works with most websites and supports full forum WSIWIG editing (when you embolden a word it actually emboldens it and doesn't wrap it in code).

K-Meleon
slimbrowser
netscape
Avant browser.

You can try those but it sound more to do with your pc than the browser.

Thanks :)

I'll have a look at those.

It's time for a new PC. This POS is going to have my fist in it soon.

My bad :P. With two tabs open and a few add-ons my firefox is only using around 50 mb. Not sure why yours is so bad.

I can't live without Opera's Mouse Gestures but I was a little confused when you mentioned that Opera wants to load the entire page before displaying it, whereas with my Opera (version 10.0) the page always loads in fragments and the first things to load are shown on the screen first.

If I was gonna have to recommend a browser it would have to be Opera.

That's really strange Lydon. I happily use Chrome with tons of tabs open. If you need added functionality you can maybe try Chrome Plus: http://www.chromeplus.org/

Maybe it will work better for you. :)

It has lots of extras like mouse gestures and whatnot.

Spanks all.

I've come to the conclusion that this heap is most likely the problem. It's been doing everything slowly lately, wheezes when I start it up in the morning (no jokes) and generally doesn't know its left from right.

*hops onto the needs new PC wagon, pushing towards the front :D*

Hehehe

Well I've been using Chrome Plus since it was suggested and it's working so much better than normal Chrome is. The added features are also very handy :D So yes, I think I've found a new browser w00t.

Those problems certainly sound more like PC problems that browser problems. I suggest an upgrade, and in the meantime run whichever of the 3 is running best.

I personally find the best performance from Chrome and FF, but you might also try Safari. I don't love it, but maybe it works for you.

If only it were that easy ;)

But yeah, Chrome > the others, for now. Safari I used for a bit last year, but I gave it up as I realised that for what it delivers, it asks for quite a bit in return resource-wise. Many sites also didn't like it.

Chrome is the future. Nothing touches it in terms of speed, not even Opera 10.

What version were you using? Try grabbing one of the nightly builds, I've found them to be perfectly stable and tad quicker than the 'stable' release.

Im running Plus that i downloaded from the main site. Its definitely the future. Looking forward to getting a look at the Chrome OS.
