So with a couple thousand mobo's I can get enough to make myself a ring
Sadly not, it would be too contaminated.
It reminds me of a jeweler I know telling me how people who take their grand/parents' rings in to be reforged into new jewellery for sentimental reasons aren't always aware that the gold is melted down and kept by the jeweler for lesser quality items, since it's contaminated by too many acids (from being touched etc.) to be used for a ring of the same quality again.
Returning to topic, When we investigated this 12 years back, it was found that you'd be spending a bout R100 worth of labour to extract R10's contaminated gold from mobo's. Not sure what it is now.
