The South African government has failed to uphold the Constitution, Afrikaans singer and activist Sunette Bridges said on Thursday.

"We are gathered here today and in all major and smaller towns across South Africa... to inform the government of South Africa that it has failed dismally in upholding the letter and spirit of this constitution and, in doing so it has failed the citizens of South Africa."

lament the killing of white South Africans

"We have the right to feel safe in our homes and communities and it is the responsibility of this government to provide us with the protection we deserve."

Ok , I guess then black/colored/indian people don't get killed? These okes are acting like they are the main victims of crime. We are all affected by what goes on in this country, not just them. This whole thing is super selfish.

I agree Lyt! If RedOctober included ALL South Africans regardless of race, gender, class, age and social status protesting against murder and violent crimes it would have had a bigger impact on government's decision making and would have brought us all together in supporting one another and fighting for a safer South Africa.

I guess not all of us can be selfless leaders, teachers, and outstanding citizens fighting for social change - we need some dummies to make the world go round.

It's not just selfish, it's fundamentally racist. There failure to acknowledge the murder of ALL races in this country shows a narrow-minded bent toward support for white-only causes. This is hugely embarrassing as these idiots think that they speak for white-people in general. It sounds like another initiative by the self-appointed spokesman-for-South-African-White-Afrikaners: Steve Hofmeyer.

I love how they quote the constitution but omit the part where they say all races are equal.
Still I agree with the part about excluding race from entry requirements to university, it just creates so much tension.
