Registering with Rectron and the likes

Hey everyone

Been a way for a while, been busy sorting out with work and am now one of the owners :)

I am hoping I can get some help here, how does one become a reseller? for the likes of Rectron, Pinnacle, Frontosa, Corex etc.
I understand some of them need you to be registered with one of the others before they allow you to buy through them, if so who is the best to start off with? I know we need a VAT number but what else?

Much help would be much appreciated :)

I know you have to be a registered reseller for RECTRON not too sure about the others.

iirc, you need to have a registered CC (Closed Corporation) to register with the likes of Rectron, Pinnacle, Frontosa, Corex etc.

Check out this link: www.cipc.co.za/CC_Forms.aspx

CC's don't exist anymore as of middle of last year afaik, all new registrations have moved over to private company which is the replacement of cc's.
We have re registered the company and are now waiting on confirmation of our name, should be coming either tomorrow or early next week and then a couple days later our CK number comes.
But thanks for the linkage :)

To become a registered reseller, how would one go about proving that to them?

edit in small print... rep to both for quick responses :)

Best way of doing this Simon, as I've gone through the process a few times is to pick up the phone and ask their helpdesk to send you the information pack on becoming a reseller.
Generally, as for Axiz and Pinnacle etc their documentation will give you the requirements
ie ID Documents of Directors, Proof Banking Account, CM29 / CK 1 etc

We're a dev company, not really technically a reseller, but we are in IT, and we have accounts with a few of those places. I think just ask them what they need, and ask for an application

Hey Simon,

Like mentioned before, you will get an application form from any of them with specific documents they will need comp reg / vat letter of good standing etc. You will more than likely have to put down 3 suppliers you also currently buy from and what your expenditure is with them, also the main accounts person they can contact at those 3 suppliers.

You will also need to stipulate your annual budgeted / target expenditure with them too if your applying for any credit otherwise you will be put on COD. oh as well as your annual turn over.

Really? :wtf:

Jeez..... Shows you how long I've been out of the loop...... :p Thanks for the info. :)

CCs do still exist you just can't register new ones. You can still buy off-the-shelf ones...why you'd want to do that is a different question though.

Companies have a lot of regulations but its also a separate legal entity from the owner so its better for Tax and legal contracts. CCs were made with fewer legal restrictions so they are easier to manage (more owners, no audit, easier to finance) and also a separate legal entity.

It was a great vehicle to encourage small- medium business however it's also an apartheid relic that is open to abuse. I'm getting off topic though

Good luck on the new venture

Hi Simon,

I would start off with Frontosa, They have a really good level of stock and they do supply some of the bigger gaming brands out there plus some of your budget range products. They do not require much accept for the CK docs or PTY Docs. You do however need to be in the computer industry. They will not give you an account if you are not a computer reseller this way they keep their channel partners happy.

Rootworm, I would personally not do business with Computer Wholesalers. We started off with them as they give you access to all of the big brands out there but they latency on orders and delivery makes your company seem like it does not any focus on service. Service will be the only factor when looking at longevity of your company. It can make your company or it WILL break your company. There are many fly by night IT companies out there and the only thing that killed them off is bad service and no return business. As an IT company we also depend on Word-of-Mouth marketing. There is nothing that works better than Word-of-Mouth. People trust people not companies. I hope that helps Guys.

Simon good luck with your new venture I hope it is a huge success. I am looking forward to seeing your Company in the industry.

I would like to use them as they don't require business proof. I am legally not old enough yet- 15- (To own a business - that I know of) and I would like to help my friends out, and make a bit of money. I only ask because I am not sure of their service and warranty as I live in Cape Town. Any help?

Hey Guys thanks for all the help, still hectically busy so only managing to get a few minutes on now to come read replies.

I am about to send in my application with Frontosa, didn't know they had moved to Town rather than being near Canal Walk and will be hoping for the best.
Our prime focus of the company is not IT related but it is one of the core functions/services that we have so it should still be suitable. Got all the docs (arrived on Friday) so its more go go go.
Anyways thanks again guys

My PC was hit by an electrical surge and insurance is replacing it, they use rectron to get their parts, if anyone has a product list ( no pricing needed) could you please PM me so I can see what cases are available etc because it doesn't seem like they have the case that I had.
