The latest Commission for Employment Equity's report on transformation in the labour market is disheartening, the ANC said on Friday.

"The figures... paint a disheartening picture of an extremely sluggish pace of transformation, with the Western Cape province being the most resistant to transformation," African National Congress spokesman Jackson Mthembu said.

"The Western Cape's conscious disregard of the laws of this country and the lack of understanding of...read more here: Report showing Whites dominate top management disheartening: ANC

Yeah shareholders like competent & experienced senior managers & due to our past those are mostly white. Not fair, but such is reality. Issuing reports and personifying provinces isn't going to fix that. Not fucking up the SA education system in such spectacular fashion might though...

Interesting how the Western Cape is also regarded as the most successful province. Coincidence?

I'm sorry but you can't just put someone in a leadership position to up your BEE numbers. Unfortunately black people have a long way to go until they are accepted as equals and it starts with them making others see this, and I don't mean by legislation forcing them into the positions. Perceptions take a long time to change. Whites are still seen as me competent.

I'll repeat my epic mybb song....

It wouldn't be RSA without constant reminder of white VS black.... lalalala

Mate, I don't know where you are working, but there are just as many incompetent white folks around. Incompetence is not race related at all.

You seem to have totally overlooked the reference to perceptions. I have seen people filter CVs based on race. If your name sounds white you pass the first filter. Those are the perceptions I refer to. Call me mate all you want but if you do not think those perceptions exist then you are naive.

Sorry Clint (won't call you mate again :p) but to generalise perceptions as well doesnt work for me. So I'll aknowledge that these perceptions probably exist. Those folk who have them should really then work on losing this view else risk the chance of becoming irrelevent in our country.

They do need to change. But the reality is we all judge people on many levels, with race being one of them. Linked to race of course is culture.
I'd be interested in hearing if a black board/hirer had a choice between a black manager and a white manager with equal qualifications who they'd go with? Ignoring BBBEE and the like obviously which "forces" them to favour the black.
