Talk of way back. Chilled games. Funky characters black and white displays. Awesome soundtrack. Endless hours. No internet connection needed. Just you and that level you had to repeat again and again.

I remember those kinds of games all too well. I will say, your post had me wondering the point of this thread. It just seems like a subject post without any real context, just an opinion.

Just went through Zak McKraken and the Alien Mindbenders again not too long ago. I remembered 90% of it off the top of my head so I polished it off in a few short hours.

I regularly play games from the 16bit era. Actually just started Earthworm Jim 2 last night. I still have my ps2 and original xbox and recently got a small old tube tv to play on. Just need to find a space to set up.

Stand out retro game for me has to be the original Sim City. Was totally addicted to that game and would regularly pull all-nighters at the dining room table playing it. I think, when asked "how do you win?", being able to say "well, you don't ever actually win" was a huge part of the reason I got so hooked on it.

Ahh, the innocence and folly of youth :)

The first platform Duke Nukem games were amazing... And Jazz Jack Rabbit

The amount of hours i have spent in my live on the good old Golden China though... Wow... Circus Charlie... 5 stages on repeat just getting more and more insane as you progress... "whistling:

I'll +1 that and throw the original Civilization into the mix. I've seen many a sunrise because of these.

Is the old Fallout games considered retro?

Can't remember how many times i finished Fallout2 and Fallout:tactics.I also played Diablo II around the same time.

Would Warcraft and Age of Empires qualify? The original, first edition games were forerunners of the greatness to come. Warcraft 2 & 3 as well as Age of Empires 2 were all amazing games (and still are). AoE2 was for a long time the only game I played.
