Regarding the toaster: Thinking about it, I'm not sure I know what you mean with the setting you speak of. My toaster has a volume control that makes the bread darker the louder you turn it up.

Could it be because some slices are thicker than others?

I like this one, very tempted to Frankenstein a toaster into a braai now.

My answer was Low GI bread takes longer to toast with all those sand so on.
