Riddle me this, Riddle me that!

The captain of a ship was telling this interesting story: "We traveled the sea far and wide. At one time, two of my sailors were standing on opposite sides of the ship. One was looking west and the other one east. And at the same time, they could see each other clearly."
How can that be possible?

Mirrors.... :)

The one on the the east side of the ship was looking west and the one on the west side of the ship was looking east

I guess this thread is getting boring. Ill spice things up a bit....Good Luck!

While exploring the mountains of the Drakensberg, Flippie was captured by hostile cave trolls. Van, the powerful chief of the trolls told him he could make one final statement which would determine how he would die. If the statement he made was false, he would be boiled in water. If the statement were true, he would be fried in oil. Flippie found neither of these options too his liking, so he made a statement that got him out of this seemingly impossible situation. What is the one statement he could have made?

Maybe he got them to argue about the best way to cook him until the sun rose, and Gandalf could come save him by breaking a boulder and letting the sun shine on the trolls, thereby making them turn to stone...

He must have said they will boil him ,
if they boil him in water, that would make what he said true, which means they should have fried him ,seeing as though they can only fry him if he makes a true statement, but if they do fry him , it would make his actual statement false guess thats why they freed him .
I hope that makes sense

Now that you put it that way, I think I may have seen this riddle before :)
