RIFT : Planes of Telara

W00t!

I finally managed to sort out my dumbass-ness and unlocked all 8 souls in my calling. (Hooray for chiefmince!) All I need now is the Vindicator PVP soul and I'm sorted. I got myself dual-spec so now I can respec myself twice into decent rogue specs instead of the half-assed ranger/bard spec I've been toying with.

I'm DEFINITELY doing this with my warrior ASAP seeing as he takes FOREVER to level with his tank spec.

Found champ/beastmaster to be decent but there might be faster builds.
Tried a few other builds too but that was my fav one to use while leveling the warrior.

Yeah, seems to be...although if I level an alt, I'mma go for my Mage again. Actually think I should just keep my guardian mage on Stormpike and to hell with having multiples on one server. Would be cool seeing the guardian side of things with you lot.

I started my rogue alt with Ranger\Bard, which did okay damage, but after I switched to Ranger\Saboteur I now do insane amounts of damage. I tried it out in PvP and I was killing people left and right. It's that sudden unexpected burst of damage of five bombs detonating that catches people by surprise.

I'm also experimenting with a Shaman\Justicar build on my main Cleric and I have to say that damage wise it's looking a lot more effective than my Druid build. I will give it a proper try tonight and compare damage outputs to decide which one will be my solo build.

I never realised Saboteur was a melee capable soul. I always worried that I'd be screwed if caught in the open with an assassin or nightblade etc. on me.

However, I'm keen to give this build ago: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1MMpV.0V0c.VG0hz.xbdVhoMkGdz

It's a Ranger/Marksman/Saboteur build... It's aimed at (hehe, "aimed at"...man I'm a dork) getting as much distance between you and your pvp targets - as well as taking on elites. Hence the 24pts in ranger to get the aggro-piggy up.

So I did some research and it seems that Apothecary (alchemy) is the most useless and overly expensive crafting profession in the game. Totally broken.

I'm considering dropping Foraging and Apothecary and taking up outfitting and runecrafting ... or dropping butchering & Apothecary and picking up Mining + weaponsmithing.

What are you guys rolling with?

Yeah Apoc is totally useless. Humility is full gathering and my mage alt is a master apoc/rune/artificer. If I had to do it over again I would most definately go with outfitter.

Hmmm ... would Butcher / Outfitter / Rune go well with a rogue?

Not sure if butchering alone can sustain outfitting or not ... does Rune not require ore?

Butchering and cloth pickup will sustain outfitter to a large degree. Rune needs items to break up, you can also break up your outfitter items for rune mats.

If you guys want a warrior level spec, I can give you mine. Works wonders, but problem is it gets better as you level.

I was looking at artifacting, but not sure how much it'll be worth it compared to having things enchanted and making leather gear...

Depends on numerous things. My mage has Outfitting, Runecrafting, and Butchering. Runes can either be sold on AH (although not for much), or given to alts to help them level. I'd highly recommend Outfitting if you're taking butchering, as the amount of leather you build up is crazy (at one stage, i had about 10 full stacks of Exotic Leather). Created a whole load of Exotic Leather Boots, which I then converted into Runecrafting materials and used to level RC.

imo, this combination is best for a first character, as it can be used as a booster for alts (especially mages and rogues).

Sweet, thanks for the tip off!

Foraging is on 145 now, butchering on 115, apothecrappy on 75 or so ... so I'll look at dropping them and taking outfitting and runecrafting. At least I can make myself some gear then. Just landed myself a sweet blue bow now by completing the killing-the-titan quest at the end of the Stonefield quest chain. On my way to quest in the gorge now.

Respecced to MM/Ranger/NB ... working VERY nicely in the warfronts as well!

Yeah runecrafting sells really badly on the AH, if you want to make money pre end game crafting you would be better off selling the greens to a vendor for money rather than break it up and make a rune from the mats ;-P
Once you are lucky to get some plaques for the end game runes, you can start making some money but not huge. A purple rune typically sells for about 5 plat, not much, considering what went into getting it.

"Optimizations and tweaks to the River of Souls Phase 2 event."? So... we're going to fail and rollback on Phase 3 again? :P

So yesterday's hotfix seemed to have some interesting side-effects. Attempting to run through an area without fighting anything as a shortcut to my next quest, I predictably die and on rezzing all my equipment has changed colour. Unfortunately this didn't last after a teleport just before logging off last night. Pity, as my new colours were a lot better than the standard colour of my equipment. >_<

Haha! Strange...I died quite a few times last night and never happened to me...I did see the server message come up to say that they working on the problem, so knowing Trion, we can expect a fix for it soon :)

That's been there for a few months. The first time it happened to me I was chuffed with my awesome new look. :D
