RIFT : Planes of Telara

Cancelled mine as well a while back, kind of regret buying a 30 day game card. If anyone wants to take it off my hands, let me know.

Enjoyed the game, but won't be playing again until I upgrade my connection speed.

New patch:

RIFT 1.2 Hotfix #3 - 14/5/11

GENERAL
* Corrected a bug where some major Rift types had a higher chance to drop generic Rift items for Guardians or Defiants.
* Rare and Epic Planar Currency now list the zone names where they can be obtained in their descriptions.
* You can once again loot coin from the Dusty Sack.
* Resolved an issue with the Visions of Future Past event not completing properly in some zones.
* Minor Rifts now count toward zone Defender achievements. An additional pass was done to ensure various unique Rifts were represented in the Defender achievement criteria.
* Expert and Raid Rift Achievements now only require completion of the final boss stage of the Rift.
* Fixed Guardian Wardstones in Stillmoor not announcing which ones have fallen during a zone event.
* Empty Rift loot containers should stop hanging around when they should have disappeared.
* Using short-range teleport abilities while Polymorphed will no longer result in your character disappearing from the screen.
* Resolved incompatibility with CrossOver / Wine.

LFG
* When joining a group formed through the LFG tool, the role icon for your character will display as the role you joined the group for, regardless of your current spec's suggested icon.
* Re-entering an LFG dungeon on a corpse run will no longer reset the location to which you return when leaving the LFG dungeon normally.
* Raised the maximum level cut-off when using LFG for standard Dungeons. This should allow characters to still queue for Standard Dungeons while they award experience.

* Saboteur: Fixed a bug here Annihilation Bomb with Demolition Specialist triggered 10 Blast Charge effects on the target when properly timed with Detonate.

QUESTS
* Fixed a problem causing Guild Quests to occasionally not update when closing Rifts.

* Cult Saga: A Family Affair: Jiles should now be able to aggro with fewer issues.
* The quest 'Taking the Fight' now correctly appears in the quest journal category for Sanctum or Meridian, as appropriate.

IRON PINE PEAK
* An Unbearable Burden: Can be completed normally once more.

SCARWOOD REACH
* Guardians can now obtain the quest from Azdea's dropped Treasure Map.

SHIMMERSAND
* Damage Control: Fixed an issue which caused Victaeus to fail to give credit when killed,

Hey Guys... This is my first time on this forum, so i hope i get this right.

I was wondering a few things.
First of all I’m wondering what the end game is like in rift?
And compared to WoW does this require high end pc's?
And the game time is it avail on cards as well?

Currently I’m playing WoW, and is just missing the old school "WoW" were flying mounts was nowhere to be seen in the main cities... ext ext..

I only do pvp as my game time is very limited and want to enjoy the little time I have to play to the fullest...

o and the pvp guys is it any good?

Lol sorry i know im asking a few questions but any advice will help..

Is there a place where one can download a trail before paying for game to test it?

Thanks again

It's identical to WoW in terms of how end game works , minus the flying mounts of course. Raids, dungeons [with variety of difficulty], dailies and crafting. You don't really need a super high end PC for it, i'd say the game looks better than WoW and runs pretty good on my laptop. I don't think you need a high end PC at all.

As for PvP, i must say, lvl 1-49 is great. Lvl 50 [max level] is very frustrating. There's alot of balance issues [imho] and let's just say , you simply don't stand a chance against a Rank 6 geared PvP'er when you hit 50. I've been one-shotted numerous times. If you want to level in PvP you will need to go with a premade or suck it up and get owned until you can afford PvP gear. Basically, if you remember the "resilience" stat in WoW, Rift got the same thing called "valor" . Without it, you are a sitting duck in PvP.

So lvl 50 tends to be a "farm or be farmed" exercise. Premades can queue against pugs and rank 6 pvp'ers can fight against rank 1 pvpers etc.

There's no Arenas, there's only 4 "battlegrounds" aka "warfronts" . That's it . There's open world PvP , but just like in WoW, this is just a gankfeast of zero purpose.

So in all honesty, i wouldn't play Rift for the PvP, it's a PvE game at heart. PvP is more a "side attraction" . I kinda know what you are looking for, since that's what i was looking for too. You can easily queue up for a warfront, jump in, pvp for 15 minutes , get out and go on with life. But i must admit, i've had better pvp experiences elsewhere.

The PvE experience on the other hand is great. Doing some PvP while you're leveling is also a great change in pace, but at lvl 50, doing exclusively PvP is going to be a frustrating experience. Although there are a nice progression path [PvP ranks] and all if you really get into it.

Thank you Diabolus for the reply.
Found out that steam was running a special on rift over the weekend so I got it with a free month included.

Looking forward to give it a try. I guess one has to look at it from the point of view that this is similar to wow in the beginning so they have lots of room to learn and not make the same mistakes as Blizz.
So for R240.00 it was worth it to give it a month trial run.. Lol the 8g download maybe not.:)

Will join a EU pvp server. For now and get back and add my thoughts to it all as I go along.
Any particular EU PVP guild out there?

Been getting slowly back into the game (haven't been playing due to a hectic 3 weeks). I've currently left Gloamwood and I'm in Scarlet Gorge. My Chloro (main), Lock/Archon build is really starting to shine at my current level (27). Just need to start getting some better equipment and attempt the PVP battlegrounds.

The Prophecy guild is doing very well, we now have a core of players running Tier 2 dungeons and prepping for raids in the future. I hear that Trion is going to offer FREE character transfers. Time to think about coming to Steampike for those that rolled somewhere else ;-P

Glad to hear that awesome news Shrike. Hopefully I'll also start being more active once again, as I have a couple of weeks of leave coming up.

Yeah free character transfers is awesome news :).

RIFT TO OFFER FREE CHARACTER TRANSFERS

Gather your friends in RIFT and play anywhere, any time

When the next major RIFT™ update hits early this summer, subscribers will be treated to a surprise – free character transfers. Trion Worlds announced today that with RIFT 1.3, players will have the ability to move to select servers in their territory once each week, taking all items, achievements, and titles with them. Additionally, guild leaders will be able to move their guild’s level and experience.

“MMOs are all about playing with your friends no matter which server they’re on, and that’s why we’re offering this as a free service to our subscribers,” said Scott Hartsman, Executive Producer. “RIFT is both a game and a service, and adding free server transfers is just one more way we can make this the best possible MMO experience available.”

Whether you want to play with friends, check out a new server, or avoid queue times on highly populated servers, you’ll be free to move about Telara. As a part of this grand experiment, there will initially be no limits on the number of times you can transfer your characters or guild.

Character transfers will remain a free service for the foreseeable future, and could become a permanent addition to the RIFT experience. Subscribers will be able to perform the transfers inside of the game itself once the patch is live.

I wonder what other content will be added with patch 1.3.

I'm actually thinking of moving to a more populated server. It's almost impossible to find a group to raid with, on both my level 37 Rogue and my 50 Cleric. As a healer waiting for nearly an hour for a random T1 dungeon is no fun IMO.

Once Hellkom fixes our internet I will see how things are (haven't been able to play in over a week), so if things improved I might reconsider.

Hold off on the switching server.
I think its the LFG tool that is still a bit broken.
As the other night i was in the Queue for over an hour with no response.
I then left and tried again, bam party full in 5 seconds and im on a pvp server.

Guys, so I have been playing for 3 days or so… and I’m starting to read up a bit more eon the game and game content. One thing that comes up all the time is this end game content issue… what is up with that? Tbh I’m a slow player 3 nights a week 4hour a session or so… so it will take me some time...

I’m just wondering is every one expecting these guys to be exactly like wow. Does not make sense…

Nothing wrong with Rift's End Game , it's identical to WoW. I think the issue is, people are a bit tired of this particular -type- of end game. In other words, it doesn't matter what game it is, the End Game is all about a gear grind by repeating Dungeons and Raids [which takes progressively more time for debatable rewards] .

I suppose if you've never done this kind of thing before, Rift will last you quite awhile. If you've done it in WoW, well i'm positive Rift's end game will loose its appeal alot faster....

Yeah, Rift end game is exactly as outlined. The only real difference is that you have better graphics, new gameplay and classes that can switch roles easily. The raid rifts are quick (20 minutes or so) so at least it is not as time intensive as other game's raids.

New patch:
RIFT 1.2.1 - 5/27/11

GENERAL
* Cult Saga: Final Epic weapon rewards have been upgraded in power!
* Guild Perk: Planar Protection now consumes only one Planar Charge, only from the caster, and not other group members.
* Brought the Fire Rift Raid difficulty more in line with other Rift Raids.
* Shimmersand: Damage Control: Fixed an occasional bug with the Earth Beacons and this quest not resetting properly.
* Crafting Daily quests will no longer take you above the intended Notoriety rank with the Quarry Rats, Granite Falls, or the Arcane Hand.

ITEM SELLBACK/PURCHASE CONFIRMATION
* Any item purchased with a special Currency will have a confirmation pop-up on purchase.
* Any item purchased with platinum/gold/silver with an Uncommon rarity or higher will have a confirmation pop-up on purchase.
* You may now sell back items for a full refund under the following circumstances:
- A single item, not a stack of items.
- Within 30 minutes in-game time from purchase (the 30 minute timer stops counting while you are offline)
* Modifying the item with a Rune or temporary effect will cause it to no longer be fully refundable.
* Dyeing the item will cause it to no longer be fully refundable.
* If the item has left your character by mail, trade, or Auction House listing, it will no longer be fully refundable.
* If the item was used to activate a quest or update a quest objective, it will no longer be fully refundable.
* Item tooltips will show a full 'Return Price' while still within the refund period. Once the 30 minutes have passed or the item is made ineligible for a full refund, the tooltip will display the normal resale price.
* Items that have been returned for a full refund will not appear in the Buy Back list.

PVP/WARFRONTS
* The following objects can no longer be interacted with while under the effect of Slip Away, Twilight Transcendence, Scatter the Shadows, Defer Death, or Phase Shift:
- Black Garden: The Fang of Regulos
- The Codex: all control points
- Whitefall Steppes: the Sourcestone
- Port Scion: Sourcestone and capture points
* Using Slip Away, Twilight Transcendence, Scatter the Shadows, Defer Death, or Phase Shift while carrying Sourcestone in Whitefall Steppes or The Battle for Port Scion will now cause the sourcestone to drop.
* Respawning in a Warfront now regenerates energy and power more quickly for Rogues and Warriors.
* The Codex: Reduced the amount of time it takes to flip control of a control point.
* The Codex: Increased the maximum match duration to 20 minutes.
* The Battle for Port Scion: The Bridge respawn point now becomes unlocked after the match has been running for one minute. The amount of time it takes to gain control of the respawn point has been halved.
* The Battle for Port Scion: Returning Sourcestone no longer grants a buff to your team members.
* The Battle for Port Scion: Slightly updated the paths that the heroes take when spawned from defeating the Endless boss. They now more regularly assault the southern objective on each side.
* The Codex has been updated with alternate routes out of the spawn areas for both teams. Several sections of the terrain have also been smoothed out to avoid wonky movement.

SOULS
* Fixed an issue causing Synthesis, Righteous Mandate, and a few other effects to not end properly when their caster logged off.
* Inquisitor: Ritual of Judgment: This once again applies properly to the DoT portion of Sanction Heretic.
* Vindicator: Fixed a couple of issues with the Subdue ability. This was previously only working on three of the Warrior taunts (Incite, Grim Lure, and Spark), and will now properly apply for any taunt used. Subdue can no longer be used against NPCs that are not player pets.

Small patch:

RIFT 1.2.1 Hotfix #4 - 10/6/11

* Players who die during boss fights in instanced Raids and Dungeons should always be eligible for loot rolls, even when Soul Walking back to the instance.
* Fixed a rare problem where characters would get stuck and unable to pass character select - this is a separate issue from the one affecting some logins from hotels and universities.

ZONES
* Sanctum: The Messenger of the Vigil and other Quantum Sight-visible NPCs will no longer interfere with fighting taking place in the city.
* Shimmersand: Twisted Perfection: Fixed an issue that occasionally caused the Cyclone Lord to not appear when summoned.
* Shimmersand: Ritual Firebrands: This quest now requires level 50 to accept.
