Anyone heard of Robocraft? its a free to play game thats currently in alpha download size is about 270 Mb

you build your own bot then go fight online with it against other people so that you can make cash to buy new parts.. here's some screenies I took of my beast :)

It makes me think of that other robot constructing game RawBots, don't think that had an arena based combat though.
 
Rawbots' devs have not been heard from since july last year.. so it seems it might be abandonware and thats how I found this game.. someine there posted something about this game:)
 
Just started playing,they have had over 1k registrations yesterday alone.

Really enjoying it so far,planning to make a flyer once i have the right cubes.

i see they just released a new update (167 Mb), they removed the 3 min timer for matches and now u can battle when u want :)

next update brings platoons :)

Just remember you have 3 garages.. 1 already has a flyer in it :D

I meant a real flyer,not a hovercraft.You can make a pretty good one using helium blocks and some thrusters.

It seems they reduced the armor value so now everyone is going for speed.

The new matchmaking takes forever.
 
Ouch.

Well here is my flyer,it gets one shotted but it can get quite a few kills before getting noticed if you flank.

Nice.. you must unlock the armored block.. it takes 2 hits before breaking it costs 80 per block though.. so takes a while to replace all lightweight blocks
 
The more I'm seeing of this game the more I'm considering trying it out. If my week isn't too hectic I'll give it a go.
 
Hmm really considering this now, how is the controls with movement etc ? especially for flying, is it jerky (as these FTP games usually are) or smooth and well controlled ?

Its pretty smooth.. doesnt feel too bad for me when I'm using s flying/hovering bot

And its a small download... even if u just want to try it.. under 400 Mb

I've had to update twice now bringing my download closer to 1GB than the promised > 400MB.

Worst part is that I haven't even been able to play it yet.

I just want to build and kill other robots! Is that so hard?

well they release an update every Monday and when i started it was only a 270 Mb download :p

also.. i don't think these guys are good with patches because it seems they make u download the whole files all over instead of just the updates and i hate that because i have a slow connection.. :/
