Robots

So whats your view on them will they one day be so human like that they are like Data from star trek?

And also what do you think of the 3 laws of robots(movie I-robot made it famous)
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Yeah one day I would love to be turned into an cyborgs. Since more and more we are becoming like the borg with implants, pacemakers, artificial legs and so forth.
Just think how long you would live and maybe if some of those great minds where still alive today we would live in a better world.

1: What will the robots be like?
Us robots will turn all you flesh sacks into love slaves!

2: 3 Laws.
It's good if your robot is meant as a servant. But what about military robots? You need a whole new law for something like that.

3: Cyborgs (Not androids! Learn your terminology damnit!)
It's more about, you won't be able to beat the robots, but the option is there to join us, we will welcome you with open arms.

I think years ago people dreamed about metal robots. The future is in Synthetic organics. Like the geth or synthetics from the Alien movies. Organic machines.

Fixed it I was kind of thinking of data atm.

Don't forget your a flesh sack to.... and yes maybe we would end up like the matrix...

Or you could let humans take over the robots and let them enter the battlefield,(more or less like avatar but without you diying if your robots gets destroyed)so no law is needed for them.

Wait... I am?
/looks down at body.

NNNNOOOOO!!!!!!!!

But if the technology becomes available to digitize an organic consciousness, I'de be the 1st inline at the experimental lab. And I'll strap a nuke to my ass just incase they don't accept me.

And that will happen the year 2011, and I will instigate WW3 in 2012, and use the technologies developed during that time to finaly take full controll during WW4 in 2019

Seriously dude lay off the Sci-Fi games :p Whooooo here come the geth run away. that is if we don't blow ourself up before we can make them so that they can blow us up.

BattleStar Galactica had organic machines also. All im saying is the tern Robot is a bit dated. Synthetic is much more up to date. Even Bladerunner back in the 80 had the idea, the replicants where synthetic not metal. And before that you have the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" on which Bladerunner is based.

Nano tech is what they are currently developing. I watched a thing about it. Organic is just too gross for my taste. Has any one seen a sci-fi when there consoles are living things. The thing looks like a fetas:eek:

Yeah its eXistenZ. very Weird movie.
Im not talking about consoles and PC's. That will remain hardware or wetware but as for "Robots" Synthetics.

I was thinking of making it a long threat title but stuck with Robots since its the most primitive so to speak. Tsar you mean nanobots since nano tech has been around for a long time already now.

If Nano tech has been around for as along as you probably think, why do people still have cancer? Thats the only time I will ever acknowledge the exsitence of true "Nanobots"

Yes thats what I mean.

Nano tech and nanobots are 2 different things my friend. An example of nano tech is cpu.

Not quite. There is actualy a differnce between Nano technology and Micro tecnology, though the dictionary meaning are the same, the terminology isn't. Nano tecnology relates to mechanical or moving parts. While Micro relates to electronic and stationary.

Those the commonly accepted scientific terms.

Just a quick comment on the terminator series - I still think it would be impossible for them to be that stupid that they would wire up an AI to their nuke launching thingy...IRL, you need orders from the pres, which are decoded, etc, etc, just for the nuke to be launched. And they'd give those protocols to a computer??? I would just not allow any sort of netowrk conenction at all. See how it likes it then :p

But I think we're more going nano tech than full on cyborg/android etc. Think of it - an androd which kills people is not the best use of expensive equipment. Rather, make like a cube which can absorb anything, so that when you fire bullets at it, it grows bigger - and thanks you for the lead....That is a much better use of robo tech. It should also have various control features and a design so that it can be shut down instantly, incase something goes wrong, such as an EMP would do the trick.

anyway, those are my thoughts - but I would love organic computing!

I think the key to creating an artificial intelegene is not digital. But physical.

Take a single nuron and create something to emulate it. Than take a brain and map out each and every nuron in it and how there connected and so forth. Than you build your brain.

I think humans should take all these robot stories into account, even tho they are fiction ,they make some very valid points and I hope I never live to see that day
