Roccat Kave Solid 5.1 Headset

Can the people who have perfect surround sound on the Kave please state whether their rear speakers also have lowish volume? For example, when I test a game/movie with surround sound, and i turn all of the other channels, except for rear, off on the controller(Kave), I can barely hear the rear channel. Can you also state which sound card you have?
Please help me identify the cause of this

Thanks

you do have an audio example that is on the rear right ? or are you using the sound properties/configuration from control panel ?

no issues with mine, running it via my creative audigy 4.

:edit

you do know that rear is a combination and not just "rear" as you mix it ?

Yes and Yes, however the speakers that's supposed to play the 'rear' sounds have very low volume. For example, in tf2/black ops, when a guy comes from behind, you can barely hear it on the rear speakers.

BTW Sharkbait, I looked into the ASUS Xonar DG, however on all sites and the box it states that it has only output for front, center and side; no rear channel. Is that correct? Maybe that why you cant hear 'real surround sound'?

I would have thought that side = rear. It's just stoopid if it doesn't. Thanx for bringing it to my attention, will have a look tonight on the asus software and then test again with the onboard(realtek). That's one thing I love about Win7, easy change of output device.

Ok cool, please post the results here. I think that it might have an effect, cause I've read on other forums that plugging the rear cable into a side jack will mess up the positioning.

This dude uses a Kave with a Xonar dg, and he is "blown away". Maybe we should try to contact him lol, cause I don't know anymore

Hmm now I want to go listen to mine as well. My "back speakers" on the Kave is set to side speakers. I was blown away by the surround sound. My only problem is the weight of the headphones. However I'll test the whole side and back speaker thing this weekend. Hmm and I'll also mute all other channels and see how things go.

Awesome, that would really help. Do you also have a Xonar DG?

K, herewith my findings...

Speaker setup in Win7 - Xonar
Speaker setup in Win7 - Realtek

If I test in windows, it sounds the same. I will have to test with a movie or something, though movies doesn't sound so good on these headsets at load volume... If it's to load, you are to old.

I will get out the Roccat cd and test with that, but going to braai now and am enjoying a whiskey + water, so useless results now. ;) :D

I can hear a difference in blops with the onboard, so I have reverted back to it. Have a friend with a SB card, can't remember what, but he stays in middelburg, which I am going to try and convince to swop me for my card. He only listens to music and using Z5500's, no headset.

Hmmm, I think that confirms it for me. I guess I wont be buying a Xonar DG after all.
It looks like these headphones perform at their best with Sound Blaster cards, seeing as everyone who are happy with their Kave's own some Sound Blaster.I guess ill start looking out for one, Or sell my kave :(

Caboose, sorry to say, but I got my G35s yesterday and they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. :D They are not just good in games, they good with movies and music as well.
