Rogue Legacy

so i grabbed RL during the summer sale, with no expectations at all. had never heard of it, but reviews on Steam looked good.

played around a little jsut after purchase and seemed fun. but i was playing a bit more yesterday and am staggered by the depth and complexity and nuance of this game! it seems to have found a superb balance between the insane difficulty of a true "Rogue-Like", while still maintaining a healthy sense of progression. you always feel like you can make your way forward, even if the run just got you enough gold to buy a small new upgrade. the fact that upgrades persist is a gameplay decision that really makes this game a winner in my books.

i cannot wait for 29th July when its due for release on Vita, as it should be magnificent on that platform. but still, try it out on PC right now and you wont be disappointed

I too have fallen into the bottomless pit that is Rogue Legacy. I just keep going back to it for more punishment. The last game I had this experience with was The Binding of Isaac

but I would highly recommend playing with a controller. keyboard controls suck! I have to play with one hand (actions) on the G13 and the other hand (movement) on the keyboard to make it slightly more playable

honestly, apart from a handful of games (DOS and XCOM and CIV,etc) I play every other game with my XBOX 360 gamepad. FPS games also. works perfectly, especially for platformers :) but all of this is moot, as I a have put RL on hold until the VITA version comes out and that will then be my port of call

I didn't find the keyboard controls that bad. It took a bit of getting used to, but it was perfectly playable.

I sunk 10hrs+ into this game the week that I got it. I'd load it up for a quick run and land up going, just one more time, just one more... It's a great platformer and although it's initially daunting you gradually build up confidence, I clear the castle now without much of a hassle but then you head into one of the other areas and you get squashed like a bug again. I've still got a way to go, only defeated 1 boss so far, but it's great fun.

must just be my fingers that are too dumb :p

but I've gotten used to the G13/keyboard combo now
