Router Recommendations for XBONE

so my XBONE refuses to changed from STRICT to OPEN NAT, no matter what i try. i tried Port forwarding, uPnP, DMZ, etc and nothing helps. of greater concern is that when i do a Multiplayer Test, i get some "teredo" issues, which imply that the router is not ale to handle ipv6 ? its an ancient Belkin router.

so long story short, i'm gatvol with it now and want to just get a decent router. considering either a TP LINK W8960 or a Netgear N300. what do you guys recommend ?

Teredo should not be in use at all. It's ipv6 bandaid... But everything from your console to the servers should still be on ipv4 so I don't see why teredo is active. Sounds like a configuration error.

Not familiar enough with peasant boxes to say for sure but it does likely support ipv6..but then switches to teredo since the ADSL isn't ipv6. Bit of a guess....but I'd say 80 percent chance the xbone is the issue not the router.

The other issues.. Again not sure about the xbone aspect but I'd imagine disabling Nat on the router and allocating fixed ips should work. And switch off dhcp

Out of curiosity, what ISP are you with? I had major issues with this, and I have an ASUS RT-N56U router, which is meant to be able to handle anything. In December sometime it just changed to Strict, and no matter what I did, I couldn't get around it (same things as you: uPnP, static IP with portforwarding, DMZ; nothing helped). It eventually came right about 1 week later on its own, however, I found changing my ISP from Afrihost to Webafrica immediately fixed it. So if you haven't, get some free ISP accounts, and give it a try. Be sure to also hard reboot your router and then Xbox after updating any details too.

i'm with Afrihost also. wonder if that's the root cause ?? :( will swap ISP's tonight to see whats what, thanks.

I've been having continuous issues with Afrihost and gaming on Xbox One. Lately I can't play online games at all. I keep getting dropped from games, and party chat keeps dying. It seems really bad with anything that runs peer 2 peer. Switching to my Webafrica account fixes everything. Not a single issue with them. I've tried raising it with Afrihost, but they keep saying "looks fine our side". :P
