Rumor: Bethesda to announce Prey 2 canning next week

According to PS Focus, a “reliable source” has said the Human Head Studios title has been cancelled, which explains the lack of new information on the game since it was announced, as well as three planned conferences which were also cancelled over last few months.

The site says an official announcement on the game’s cancellation will be released by Bethesda next week.

Bethesda has yet to get back with us on the matter, but did tell VideogameWriters: “Thanks for reaching out. We aren’t commenting on this story.”

Announced in March 2011, the game’s slated for release on PC and consoles this year.

Would be pretty sad if it's true, but when a company responds to rumors like these by saying they're reserving comment, it usually confirms the rumor.

Pretty sad, it was looking to be a nice game.

Eh, I guess, but Rage was never shaping up to look like anything other than a bog-standard generic shooter. Prey 2 actually looked pretty interesting.

I think it's because Bethesda were developing/publishing Rage too, and if I remember correctly, Rage and prey were both to be based on the new iD engine.

No Prey 2 uses id Tech 4, Rage was id Tech 5, also id only got acquired by Bethesda after development of Prey 2 had started.

Couldn't help but notice that id Tech 5 did'nt do anything "amazing" to RAGE, we will have to see with Prey 2 then.
