Rumour: AMD's HD 6000 series out in October

yeah... they know just how to F you around...

oh well... dual gtx460 768mb's here i come...

yes i know...

i procrastinate on upgrades...

i agree Phatso. i think i might wait now. when the 6000's come out the 5000's price will drop big time. So I am just gonna wait to see what the performance is like. Then i will see what i want to buy. If the performance diff is not too big then i will buy 2 5970 at discounted prices. That will beat anything that the 6000's will put out anyway(i hope).

I'll do the same now I guess. Who would've thought that my 8800Ultra would last me over four years.

Great, I just bought myself a 5770:mad:Murphy's Law.

I was planning on getting a 5800 series in the not too distant future, seems they are becoming old now aswell. Lets hope the 5000 series sells at a decent price.

i just wish the damn tard didn't zonk my 8800gt from the post :(

then i'd be cruising happily in sli right now :(

Come now lads. You are not surprised are you? This is how the way of hardware goes. Besides, if you are going to wait for the latest and best technology each time, or for the older tech prices to drop, you will never buy anything, because bigger and better or cheaper is always just around the corner. I say, determine your budget now and go out and buy the best you can afford.

To wait for newer, better tech is to procrastinate. I also got a 5770 about 2 months ago and I'm not sorry. Lekker card that plays everything and only paid R1699 incl. Bargain in my opinion.

That is true but i was waiting for much better performance because my 4890 is still kicking ass. Beats a 5770 for a older card. The 5850 is also not too much better that it either. so i would have to get a 5970 or 2x 5870 to really see a difference. That is why i am waiting. I also wanted to see what Nvidia was going to come up with. So i will see what the 6000's bring and make a choice. I still think that 2x 5870's or 2x 5970's will kick anything that the 6000's come up with.

Densweep, you sure have a point there. I am very happy with my 5770, goes very well, plus having it in Crossfire would be pretty sweet,

Frank007, the 4890 and 5770 are basically on par with each other as far as I know, I would say they are about the same, 4890 has slightly more grunt. Of course, I could be wrong

2x 5970's is overkill and would set you back around R13000. You also cant really compare them that way, its fairly obvious that 2/3x 5970 would beat a single 6000 series card, but that means that if you have a fast 6000 series card, crossfired, it would beat the two 5970, all relative.

a 5870 or 2x 5870's is a really nice setup, but of course it has a price tag of around R9000

as far as ati website goes there is no such thing as the 5890. Are you sure you are talking about the 5890. just a question. if you are talking about a 5890 could you please post a link to where you have seen the specs. i might be interested.

Sorry, I made a mistake, I meant the HD5870. As far as I know there is no such card as 5890

This looks super sweet. If it does anything similiar to what the 4000 and 5000 series did to the market AMD will have pure win. At least will slash prices on other GPU's allowing me to upgrade.

Noooo......don't rush out to buy the latest and most expensive graphics hardware just yet......be sensible and wait until the majority og games tax your existing hardware on even moderate detail settings. [Do you really play games just to look at the pictures?]
