S.t.a.l.k.e.r. 2

Damn those binaries, they keep on causing good people to charge us money for their games.

Vintar, I'm starting a Lost Alpha thread to celebrate it's Forth (sic) place in the Best Upcoming Mod for 2011 competition.

Sigh. Nothing new for more than a week. The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Twitter page just gets updated with www.Stalker-Shop.com stuff. Has anyone ordered something from them?

I would love to order something from them. Some of those jackets look awesome, problem is we'd probably pay a small fortune for it. And then never wear it, as Africa is well known for destroying my clothes fast.

I've been wanting this jacket for months;

But for that price...

Been eyeing the same one; problem is, they state "This product is no longer in stock with those attributes but is available with others". Huh? Do they mean this product is available with other attributes, or are other products available with this product's attributes? Google Translate offers the following answer: "This product is in stock with those characteristics, but there are other". Way to go Google Translate.

I'm going to test the waters by ordering the following product:

https://stalker-shop.com/product.php?id_product=109

They do claim they ship worldwide; we'll see if South Africa is part of their world.

Juice my friend, please keep us updated on this! I'd love to get my hands on a nice calender like that. It'll become a collector's item at some point.

Their twitter is run by a south african (joe will burn) so i dont think they would leave us off the shipping list :)
mind you, there are only four of us south african stalker fans so who knows....

That's true! Two of them living in KZN. Vintar do you think we get preference? :p

Also, any update on lost alpha? Since I read about there being a chance that it'll become a official GSC release things got very excited. I just hope I won't need steam to play it. I still only have internet at work.

Ya, I saw his personal Twitter page states "Social Media manager for GSC". He was willing to help me out in getting the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Southern Comfort novel, but eventually I managed to order it from Takealot, after requesting that they add the Amazon link to their site:

http://www.takealot.com/imports/moreusa/s-t-a-l-k-e-r-southern-comfort,1466220724

Takealot is awesome. Awaiting delivery now.

I'll post a pic or two of the calender when (if?) I receive it.

Juice let me know about the book! I've been tempted to get the novel as I haven't read a book in such a long time and this one has been bugging me for a while. Thanks for letting takealot link it to their website Juice! You're a national hero and you don't even know it. Not that that means a lot here...

STALKER 2 is Alive, May Actually be Released
It looked for a while there like it was end of the line for the STALKER franchise, as developers GSC Game World were on the brink of going out of business.

That was 2011, though! In 2012, the studio's Facebook page has just let the world know that "we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays".

Fans of bleak post-apocalyptic Eastern Bloc shooters, get happy!

Happy might be the understatement of 2012, Maplassie. Even though the project is not 100% on track again and a 2012 release is highly unlikely, I have never doubted that another S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game will be made. It's just too strong a franchise to simply disappear.

Also from Facebook a few hours ago: "...the team is currently in talks with potential investors, looking for people willing to invest in the development of the game. The project is still in limbo, but there is hope. Grigorovich is not yet ready to make any statement to the public or the press."

More wait and see then.

Axon, as far as I know, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Southern Comfort is the first English language novel to be released. I'm sure you know that there are numerous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. books, but they are all written in Funny Language.

Then of course there's Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky brothers. Short but powerful, it most certainly served as inspiration for many of the elements found in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.

The Stalker movie (Ctankep) by director Andrei Tarkovsky (written by the Roadside Picnic authors) is an astonishing film. At 160min long, most people find it excruciatingly boring, but I just 'got' it and most fans of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games undoubtedly will too. The film is in monochrome and colour.

I obtained both Ctankep and Roadside Picnic from Takealot.

Eish, well, maybe you just have to play it at work ;)

EDIT: Maybe because there are only two fans here I will send yourself and Juice a signed copy, never know, it may be worth R2 some day LOL

Read the book, watched the movie. :)

There's also a really awesome fanfic on the net, absolutely amazing story, but it's not completely tied to the s.t.a.l.k.e.r universe. Still some good writing skills: http://pseudozone.blogspot.com

Ebay for the win! If any of you guys know where I can buy the game then let me know? otherwise a signed copy would be epic! You won't see me complaining.

eh, i dont quite follow. I was talking about a copy of lost alpha not stalker so you cant buy it yet :)

Wait, what...really? I might just hold you to that. Can someone be held to a 'maybe'? Seriously though, if you could send us/me a copy, you'd be a national hero. What with SA's superbly fast internet connections, having to wait for a Lost Alpha Steam download would be torture.

If you could send only one copy, I'd gladly shoot Axon in the knees to be left behind for the zone zombies to devour. If I had only one bullet, I'd shoot him in only one of his knees, unless I could catch him at just the right angle for the bullet to penetrate both knees.

Kidding.

Am I?

I... what... fine. It's on Juice!
