S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Lost Alpha is a mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. However, since so much have been changed, it might be released as a stand-alone game.

The mod recently won 4th place over at Moddb's 2011 Mod of the Year Awards (http://www.dezowave.com/lost-alpha-4th-moddb-moty-2011-best-upcoming/).

Vintar, a periodic visitor to this forum, is on the Lost Alpha development team and will hopefully keep us (read: me and axon1988) updated on the project.

Thanks for the intro, juice. I will definitely keep all the fans (read : you and axon ) updated as to the progress and indeed fate of lost alpha.
We plan to finish development within the next six months and by february we should be able to give a more accurate completion date.
I say completion date and not release date because release is still uncertain but, as gsc is, so are we hopeful.

So a bit about me and the project, maybe youre interested (probably not)
After a few emails to team offering my services (actually it was way more than a few, borderline embarrassing) I war accepted and started development with the lost alpha team in march of this year.
I knew nothing about using the sdk, so the plan was that i learn just enough to be able to add general alife to levels as and when the everything else was finished on the map.
Luckily i am a fast learner, as three months in i'm informed that i will have to do "a bit more than general lairs", little did i know this meant completing numerous levels on my own, which entails adding all alife, story related or not, tasks, dialogues, stashes, shelters, anomalies etc etc etc, which was quite a daunting thought.
Anyway i got stuck in and thanks to the help and guidance of dezodor, griphoon and loxotron, i am now "fluent" in sdk.
Levels that i am responsible for (maybe i shouldnt divulge incase they are crap) :
agroprom and its underground (which is all one level now)
darkscape
yantar
swamp
pripyat
rostok factory
secret lab
lost factory
outskirts
and two other levels which will remain a secret until release.
I have also done some work on the following:
cordon
garbage
bar
military warehouse
deadcity
radar

Sure, i will answer what i can (or what i'm allowed to)
Also something you may not know is that gsc have actually seen and tried lost alpha. :)

Did they offer any feedback?

I find it rather charitable of them to possibly allow Lost Alpha to be released on Steam. Anything new on this?

Well we never planned on charging for this game (illegal anyway) and gsc will also benefit from sales should it be sold.
Havent heard anything yet. I guess once they are ready to make an announcement in mid january we will find out more.
We are releasing another video soon so look out for that.

I come back from a seriously nice holiday to find this? Can 2012 get any better? :D

Nice to know that someone that lives less then an hour's drive from me is working something this impressive.

Everything on track? Did December provide you with some time off from development?

hell no i was busier than ever.
Dunno about you juice, but i'm married with two kids under four years old so lets just say i dont get out much so my evenings are full of lost alpha and its great :)

So I only saw this now O.o but sounds really good.

Now this mod is for stalker:soc? and not clear sky?

Eish they've had the problem with their site before. The one they had before this one. Let's hope it gets fixed.
