SterKinekor trying to Bully local gamers??

What these guys are doing is pathetic. Since they over charge the public , people have started importing the games at much cheaper prices from the UK and US. Guess what the local response was they reported to the customs authorities that shopto.net products are pirate copies. Shopto.net is a totally legal uk business. This is just down right sleazy from SterKinekor.

It's quite atrocious what these guys are doing. These underhanded tactics just to keep selling there goods at overpriced prices is ludicrous. I will be keeping my eye on how this situation develops, but I foresee Sterkinekor folding on this issue.

It just makes me angry. As if a couple of games will make a difference to the huge amount of money that Ster Kinekor steals from everyone.

Well from what I can gather, its purely home affairs performing routine checks on incoming goods. But further investigations are underway and Ill update when I know more.

They are not just performing checks, they are holding the games, in this case Killzone 2 collecters edition, saying it must be pirated because its in a steel case. They are then sending the games back and forth for evaluation and in the mean time the people aren't getting the games they paid for. Sterkinekor is supposedly behind the 'pirated' allegations.

Okay I see in the news section that SK is denying the allegations. I hope it's true, I don't like people stepping on the little guy.

Ofcourse they are going to deny it. It would be very bad for their already tarnished public image they public confirm what is happening. I doudt an inept department like customs would on their own decide to start targeting shopto.net shipments.

As of now, there is no evidence that SK is behind any of this. I'm not sure they even have the power to effect something like this

Surely one can phone them up and ask when Carte Blanche can come visit?
Their response should be indicative. :D

I wouldn't expect them to say "We totally pwnd taht guize game! LOL!" in more professional words. Even if they deny the allegation, there is no denying the fact that their prices are obscene. They practically run a monopoly on game distribution, and because of it literally kill the gaming scene in South Africa and making profit they shouldn't have.

So maybe they aren't detaining this guy's game, they've still got a lot to answer for.

Quick guys! edit all your posts to say "Alleged SK" before we get Tincan in the poop with the pencil pushers!

Just trying to be fair to SK. It looks like they are being blamed unfairly here. Just because a guy on hellopeter said that Sk's lawyers are having his game detained does not make it true.

I have not come across any evidence that SK is involved. I am not saying they are innocent, just that we should be careful about accusations. I would implore any one with evidence supporting these accusations to get in touch with me on this one.

I have had enough hassles with government bodies such as home affairs and SAPS to believe that it is the usual SA government kak at play here.

Whether or not SK is overcharging for its games is another issue completely.
