If you bought a Blizzard game you can opt in on the battle.net site, i have but did not get in so far. Don't think i will either. There is other couple ways also. check out battle.net forums....
 
Beta has not been released yet... How excatly will you be playing? :) If you read my previous post you will find the answers there.
 
everyone who has 1 blizzard game should register on battle.net there are giving away beta invites to a portion of the beta opt in people for phase 1, at the least we will get in on the last few months of beta so still worth signing up for, if not for the other franchise betas coming up
 
Is the LAN support still scraped? But I'de still buy it for the epic SP campaign, and I think battle net will just be kinda like EA's system for online play in C&C, only it will be actualy finished apon release.

No you be lucky if you get selected. You are being selected depending on your specs, and like i said if you are lucky to be one of the opt in people. So it will be random. Seeing that they have to test on a wide variety of specs...not meaning you have to have high end hardware...

Actually battle.net 2.0 is unique, it is Blizzards own service. Not like EA that uses gamespy...This service is going to be huge, after all battle.net 2.0 was mainly the whole reason why beta was delayed. Check out previous post if you want to see more on battle.net 2.0 if you want to know more. There will be some type of lan, but not like through a local are connection option like previously. You will have to authenticate through the online service, and from there you can have a p2p of sort connection as i understand.
 
Is Battle.net 2.0 going to be pay-to-play service? I read somewhere you have to pay to get membership on a month-to-month basis. Also, I'm wondering if we're going to be able to get local battle.net servers in South Africa or not.

You don't need sa servers for that. You have to own a blizzard game to play and I think thats about it.

We will have to wait and see when and if Blizzard will come to S.A. Battle.net 2.0 will be a free system, as long as you bought a Blizzard game...
 
That's good news. I was not looking forward to paying a monthly fee just to be able to play a game with friends online. I am looking forward to SC2, but I'm looking even MORE forward to Warcraft 4...but I don't even want to think when that will be released. maybe in the year 2020

:D Yes WC4 we will see only after development of SC2 is done. That means, at the earliest 2015. After release of wings of glory, it will take another 2 years for heart of the swarm and legacy of the void to come out.

Yes i agree i do not want to pay for any online gaming service like they are currently have with WOW.
 
Ok, who am i gna bribe now for a key???

Its actually heart breaking to see all the new forum avatars on the battle net forums and the amount of ppl playing it :(

1. Need an original blizzard game (StarCraft, WoW, or War3)
2. Log battle.net and create / log in with said account.
3. Add game that you have (will ask you for cd-key)
4. on My profile page there is a beta opt in
5. Select which beta you want in with download app and wait to see if you a lucky one
